Afterparty
[After the execution finishes and the culprit is once more dragged down into the Earth (he watches Snow be dragged down, with a pursed-lips look), and Typhon gives his goodbye, Quark doesn't wait in the silence this time. Instead, he says, arms folded:]
Well, since we're all doomed--[sarcasm, dry and acrid, edging a black humor]--then no better time to get a drink.
The bar’ll be open. Even if you don't eat or drink, stop in. [That's said with a side-glance at Leb. He then turns to look at Ferdinand, Aoi, Ranma, Cerejeira, and Vanity.] Ferdinand, you're gonna help me set up. Cerejeira, Aoi, you're behind the bar. Ranma you're in the kitchen. Vanity, if you've got more of that coffee, we could use it. Let's go.
[and he turns and walks out of the Arena. So...post trial, the Eatery’s been moved into bar configuration. There's a few more faces behind the bar again. Once again, there’s been several of the extra togas gathered and folded to be used as blankets. There are some dishes, light but filling for those that don't want to eat much, courtesy of Ranma.
Cerejeira, Aoi and Quark are behind the bar, the latter watching the other two like a hawk and teaching and helping when he needs to. They're all there to serve drinks, however. And Ferdinand? He's been relegated to the Dabo table. Maybe the first couple buttons of his shirt has been unbuttoned. He's paying off his tab!
The door is open.]

WHY DID WHO GIVE UP, RANMA SAOTOME?
no subject
[It could be due to him being a tough cookie to scare, or him hearing Omega approach with all his bulk and clang of metal, but Ranma doesn't flinch or jump at the robot's voice.]
Snow. You were there at the trial, remember. Your memory bank isn't short circuitin', is it?
[Don't take the dry sardonic to heart robro, he's just having a day(tm)]

AS TO YOUR QUESTION…I SUPPOSE IT IS DIFFICULT FOR ONE TO ESCAPE THE WAY OF THINKING THEY HAVE BECOME CONDITIONED TO.

[Buddy...
Ranma's shoulders slump at that, feeling a chord being strum. A chord he's heard the tune of before.]
I guess so. Still... [The teen picks at the meat in his broth.]
... Her greatest shame was not being able to 'save us'. It's not that I don't get her being pissed 'bout that, [If anything he understands that shame intimately] but...
[If she truly wanted to save them, if they were truly doomed to perpetuate this cycle of death and despair, why did she try so hard to get away with it? Why did she have to do it in such a messed up way, killing Ai and stringing her body like a puppet?]

I WISH I COULD TAKE BACK WHAT I SAID.

[.........]
... Me too.
[Don't get him wrong, he's not taking back that she killed a poor woman for what ended up being nothing and that she was stupid. But... Maybe if he, if they'd tried harder, seen the signs earlier, they could've prevented this from happening.
No point dwelling on the what ifs.]
We oughta up the patrols to every night.
[Start earlier, stay out for longer nights, bolster any safeguard to keep another murder plan from succeeding.]

WE MUST DO MORE THAN THAT.

[Omega's message and its intent is coming across crystal clear to him. He shoots the robot a firm, curt nod.]
Anything to keep people from crackin'.
[... sometimes desperate times calls for drastic measures, though Ranma's sure it doesn't need to come to that]
