Arrival

The moment is a bit different for everyone. Perhaps you were just minding your own business somewhere, others may have been in more... dire circumstances. Regardless, you were approached by a figure you can't quite picture, and they offered you an accord; in exchange for aiding them in the healing of a world lost to chaos, you would be granted something almost unheard of. Godhood.

And each of you said yes, more or less.

A blurry hand, shifting and rippling, reaches out to you. You feel a glow of warmth, unlike anything you've known before. As soon as you think you can describe it, you wake up.

The room you're in is plainly furnished, but it's about the size of a small flat. Plenty of room to stretch your legs. Don't get too comfortable, however. On the bedside table each room has is a letter; handwritten, it's wrapped around a bronze key. The lettering could only be described as the platonic ideal of 'neat and precise'.

If you are reading this, than our deal has been made. You've awoken in a place that will surely feel strange, so I want you to take some time to acclimate. Meet with the others. Breathe. I shall be along shortly.

-A

Whatever that means becomes more apparent as you step out of your housing and behold the world around you. The building you were in, and every piece of architecture you happen across, is blatantly pre-modern. Yet, something about it is otherworldly. Stone and iron and glass as far as the eye can see.

But above you was where the real questions were. It wouldn't be right to say the sun was shining on you now, nor would it be right to say it's the dead of night. Instead, the sky is a hazy mixture of both, wrapped in suffocating storm clouds that are threatening rain. Everywhere you look, into the horizon, it's the same.

Welcome home. Take your time and explore. Nobody ever said godhood was easy.

[That's sure a response.]

You're a little young to be wistful about such things, aren't you?

[Do tell him more.]

[ a soft laugh ] Am I?

Perhaps that's just my line of work talking. It does tend to make me feel like a boring old granny most days, rather than a lass with a whole life ahead of her.

I take it you're some sort of priestess or nun, by your outfit.

Nun, yes. Though it’s… [ she pauses, making a thoughtful sound ]

…I suppose it’s more of a past tense situation now. That may be why this plaque didn’t deem it worth mentioning.

I see.

[The gods are useless, so it sounds like a smart choice to him.]

Was it a particularly sudden decision or something you had planned on? Perhaps whoever gathered this information knew but didn't find it relevant.

[ lol. lmao. yeah you will get no argument from her there bud

She takes a moment to consider that thought. She’s usually not too open about this stuff, usually keeps it all close to her chest unless she’s with the only two people who knew her better than anyone and even then it was a struggle at times to find her words. Her instinct is to put her guard up even harder but…

…well, what does it matter anymore? ]

…You could call it something that was a long time coming, though the decision to finally do it was a little spontaneous.

[ She looks back to her statue and the plaque, tilting her head a little. ]

…But yes, it wouldn’t surprise me if they knew it didn’t matter anymore.

[ …

Hey Astarion.

How are you at insight checks? ]

Isn't that how it always goes? I won't ponder your situation, but I will say my getting away from mine was quite the happenstance. One I'm grateful for.

[Is her situation anything like Cazador? He can't tell. Though if her situation was anything at all like Shadowheart's...]

We don't know who gathered this information, so it's quite hard to tell.

[As for insight checks... well, wisdom isn't his best stat, but it's quite up there. Is she hiding any delicious secrets for him to know?]

[ Oh she most certainly is, though what they could be is a lot less certain (at least right now). Either way, while she’s been pretty guarded this whole time the direction this conversation has taken has made her even more so. Her stance is a lot stiffer, carrying more tension than it probably should. It doesn’t seem like the fearful kind most people would have around a vampire though - it’s definitely the topic at hand that’s put her on edge.

But the look she gives the plaque now is the bigger sticking point. Her gaze is empty, regardless of whatever practiced smile the rest of her face may be forcing itself to wear. There’s something almost… mournful about it.

The flowers around her feet that have been flourishing the longer she’s stood still have also been slowly drooping the last couple minutes and are now full on wilting. But that’s probably fine. ]

Mm, I suppose so. You would think it’d be the one who invited us here though…

[Oh... huh. That's quite an interesting thing. Some sort of power of hers, perhaps?]

That is probably the most likely. Still, it's not impossible that it was an associate.
