Week Two

Okay, maybe it hasn't been so easy. You've been enjoying a relatively pleasant time here with your fellow gods and Athena, only for a disgruntled Titan to seemingly pull the rug out from under that.

Despite the immediate threat from a hidden foe, you've managed to stave off their first attack. However, even if the grass may seem greener this week, or the sky a bit clearer, Athena can barely hide her troubled feelings. If this experiment is to be a success, what has to happen to make it that way?

You're all alive, though. That's worth celebrating, isn't it?

[ Alex snorts a little and turns his attention back to, well. The little guy. ]

Uhhhh, I think that's sort of all it can do? Like, I haven't...seen it blink yet...

[ It makes little high-pitched babbling noises. Completely unintelligible. But it sounds pretty upbeat! ]

I think my presence makes it feel threatened.

[N...no, Misane, not even close. The staring doesn't mean it's alarmed, didn't you hear the upbeat noises?]

No way! Lookit that face.

[ Another babble. Confused? Somehow the eye looks bigger. Like it's making the 🥺 face. ]

See, it's not afraid. You're not afraid, right buddy?

[...well, she avoided saying that she doesn't think that eye counts as a face, only because that seemed unnecessarily mean, especially at something that was looking at her with such puppy eyes.

[ Puppy cyclops... ]

I've...never really named anything before...

[ And the Eye-Pod—Eyelex—lets out a happy little babble. ]

[Seems to me the thing likes it, Alex!]

Sorry. I used the first two nouns I could see when looking around.

[The huge eye staring at her, and Alex himself. That was the genesis of the name, woooooah]

UGHHHHH ] I shoulda just gave it a shot- c'mon, buddy, what about, uhhh...uhhhh, Billy, isn't that a nice name?

[ Shaking its head/whole body. ]

I'm doomed.

I know in the West it's common to have more than one name. It can be Billy Eyelex, if you'd like that.

[That's not an improvement in the slightest, is it? Billy Eyelex Browning]

Yeah I don't really think that's much better.

[ But it seems so happy... Alex sighs. ]

Maybe this is what having a pet's all about. Compromise.

Yes, that's correct. That and knowing as long as you do the basic action of being kind to it, it'll love you.

[Doesn't seem like it takes much to make it happy, really. Eyelex will be happy watching Alex go around deathproofing garden equipment and shouting at the wind and eating ice cream and everything else Alex wants to do]

...Okay, I don't really know if that's true. I'm nice to Clear's dog and he still kind of hates me.
