Okay, maybe it hasn't been so easy. You've been enjoying a relatively pleasant time here with your fellow gods and Athena, only for a disgruntled Titan to seemingly pull the rug out from under that.

Despite the immediate threat from a hidden foe, you've managed to stave off their first attack. However, even if the grass may seem greener this week, or the sky a bit clearer, Athena can barely hide her troubled feelings. If this experiment is to be a success, what has to happen to make it that way?

[ Stuck in the dream world, he doesn't seem to fully recognize Luna. Still, she doesn't frighten him. ]

I-I- I can't stop! I need to catch up with her! I need to save her!!

[ Hm, well. As much as it is only a dream... ]

[ She swoops in lower, reaching out as if to scoop him up in her forelegs. Which. She sure the fuck will do! ]

[ OH WE'RE DOING THIS NOW HUH???

Alex sputters but does, indeed, get scooped up in Luna's alicorn forelegs! ]

Wh-whoa!

[ she can go so much faster than him, huh. ]

Who is thy friend?

H-huh? [ in a tone of, like, obviously, bc this is his dream: ] It's Clear.

Clear, my- my girlfriend.

[ who is still running at a speed someone probably should not be able to. smh. ]

You are afraid of losing her?

[ Seems reasonably clear (lmao) ]

[ (her weird fucking name strikes again) ]

Terrified. [ Of course he is. Of course— ] She's in danger. She's- she's always in danger.

From thy world's Death?

[ It's not difficult to put together. But Luna wonders, what could be done about such a being? Something ought to be done, clearly. ]

[ He nods. Against the- oh, wait, there's no wind here? Dreams are fuckin' weird. ]

I-I can't even look out for her anymore. A-and now, 'cause- 'cause of what I did, she's... Typhon's gonna...

[ Ah... Alex's hands rest on Luna's forelegs and, perhaps predictably, they shake. Even in dreams, they shake. ]

That is not your fault! She will be well, I'm sure.

[ Maybe we can change this dream up? Let's at least make it a little nicer. Luna starts to weave up a new, nicer setting. Given that she's the one making it.....well I mean welcome to the fields outside Ponyville, at Night? ]

No. No, it is, if I- if I'd just been a little more careful, if I'd seen it comin' before, then—

[ Oh. Oh, we are now flying above a field. Suddenly, the world isn't just empty darkness. Startled, Alex looks around. ]

Huh?

Let us have a kinder dream, shall we?

[ She'll start to swoop down a little lower. ]

Dream...?

[ He still hasn't put it together, because of course he hasn't. He's never had control over his dreams before. All Alex can do is hold on tight as they approach Clear, running through the fields. ]

Oh, yes, 'tis only a dream.

[ Luna doesn't reach out to control Clear. In theory, she could, but she doesn't much like puppeting dream-people even when she does know the real person in question. It's usually better to let the dreamer affect such things themselves, one way or another. ]

You ought to spend some time with her while you are here. Enjoy the moment?

[ Alex swallows hard.

It's ironic that Luna isn't trying to control Clear. Because just what she says, it's... ]

She... She was always telling me to... Even with everything, we- we had to...try and live.

[ As they swoop down, it's easier to tell. It seems Clear's stopped running. She's just waiting for him. ]

[ She'll flap down for a careful landing, settling Alex down on his feet before dropping back to the ground herself. ]

...living and merely surviving are different things, I suppose.

[ Back on solid ground and oh, he already loves that.

What he loves more, however, is that in the distance Clear waves and calls out: ] Alex!!

[ Oh, she's...smiling. ]

What're you waiting for? Come on!

[ He takes a hesitant step forward, glancing at Luna first with a silent question. He's...allowed to? ]

It is your dream!

[ He should do whatever he wants! ]

[ Alex won't really remember this when he wakes up, not concretely. But that is all the permission he needs to take off through the field.

The farther he gets, the more he falls back into the dream. This time, however, it's nice. It's calm. It's what he's wanted, to just have a normal day with his girlfriend, to not worry about any of the bullshit that Death brought their way.

The dream of Clear runs her hands through his hair. ] Baby, what took you so long?

Sorry, sorry, I was... [ Where was it? Ah... He takes her into his arms. ] I'm here now.

[ Luna's presence is forgotten, at least for now. But her influence has been felt very strongly this night. ]
