It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

The dragon. Well, Ferdinand called him a wyvern. Looked pretty similar to me. You'll hear him eventually, screechin' up a storm.

[ A beat. ]

You recognize that?

[Quark blinks, once.] Is that what that screeching was all about?

[as for that bottle]

Recognize, not exactly, but I think I know a bottle of alochol when I see one. [He arches an eyebrow at Alex] May I?

...Ohhh, bartender with no alcohol... [ Alex clicks his tongue thoughtfully. ] You want it?

[Quark tilts his head a bit, studying Alex]

And if I do?

[ He's clocked a few things about Quark, in no small part due to the plaques. So, as Alex has already had a Fucking Hard Day, he decides he's going to...have a little fun. ]

What'll you give me for it?

[and for that question, Alex will get a calculating look. Quark considers him for a moment, thoughtful]

[ Hmmmmm. ]

These tokens are kinda a gamble, aren't they? I mean, one of those could get me a big ol' dragon, but it could also get me like, one green crayon. [ He holds it up, for emphasis. ] I don't know if just two'd be a good trade. 'Specially when your new operation seems to run on 'em.

[ Please understand: He does not care.

But this is enrichment. ]

Yeah? Then what do you think it's worth, huh? I haven't heard a counter offer.

[rockymountaindie]

And I haven't heard about whatever else you've got. Did you get anything from the weird magic horn?

[he considers for a moment]

How about this? I got one of those really nice, really soft and comfortable fluffy bathrobes. Perfect for going to and from the showers, or just relaxing in.

[rockymountaindie]

[ Alex frowns in consideration. No doubt he's thinking of some kind of downside again. In what way are fluffy bathrobes a horrible, awful thing that will kill you, Alex? How can we ruin even that comfort— ]

Yeah, okay.

[ oh just like that????? ]

Two tokens, one bathrobe, for one bottle of alcohol for your bar.

[The corner of Quark's mouth curls up, then, into a smile. He regards Alex with something like approval.]

[ Alex sticks out his hand. ]

[Quark will shake his hand, then]

It certainly was.

Not a bad bit of negotiation. I didn't know you had it in you.

I dunno about negotiation, but well. I'm a teenager. I can be a pretty stubborn bastard when I need to be.

A negotiation is a negotiation. There's several people who would've just given it to me if I asked.

[ He shrugs. ]

If it belonged to you I wouldn't hold it over you like some kinda asshole. [ VANITY. ]

Why not? That's a loss of profit right there.

[rockymountaindie]

...'Cause...'cause if it belonged to someone else, it wouldn't be mine to barter with. Profit ain't my first concern there.

You paid for it, didn't you? [but shakes his head] But fine, fine. I guess it's not that suprising that your hyu-mon sensibilities are getting the better of you.
