Week one

You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.

It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

[The discussion with Athena has given Zvei quite a lot to think about, as has the others' discussions with her, which he was paying very close attention to. As a result, he's been remarkably quiet and withdrawn since then, preferring to spend time in his room away from everyone else.

But that's no longer the case, as he's out and about late at night(? it's hard to tell here) and looking through all the information present on the statues. He's probably looking at yours when you approach, and he holds up a hand in greeting.]

Good evening! [Is it evening??] That was quite a bit of information to process, wasn't it?

[He still seems remarkably chipper and upbeat despite the uncertainties of our situation... And while we're at it, he definitely looks nonhuman. Red irises with slit pupils, one eye with black sclera, small pointed ears, and fangs... Yeah, he's definitely not human.

Or maybe you're out even later, where you'll find him buried in a pile of scrolls in scroll storage. This is new home now. He is never leaving. Do we need to sleep as gods?? Well he's going to find out the hard way. Except he seems to be taking a break from reading right now (seriously, there are So Many scrolls here) and currently is messing around with a knife. He pricks his finger and hums a bit to himself as bright magic spills from the fingers over his other hand to seal the injury shut.]

Curious... I'll need to test this further. Does this only extend to healing, I wonder? Or is all of my magic sealed...? A larger injury would be better to test this hypothesis, but I'd rather not cut myself open if said hypothesis is correct... Ah, and there don't seem to be any monsters around for testing the rest of my magic...

[He will just keep rambling on to himself without noticing (or perhaps caring) that you are here now. Do you want to interrupt?]

...I would say you ought to, ah, take it on faith, but given the possibilities here...

[He's a man of SCIENCE, obviously. But you know what's more interesting than his own healing magic? A talking cat. So he'll set the knife down and lean an elbow on his knees (yes he is sitting on the ground like a heathen, thanks for asking) before propping his chin on his hand.]

I'm sure you've already received numerous questions about this, but if I may ask, what are you? You don't seem to be a monster.

Neither do I, but it was hard to avoid the turn of phase.

...In any case, I am a manul. For what it's worth, the closest thing we have to humans where I am from are apes, so me being a talking cat is not particularly unusual where I am from. At a certain point, I am certain everyone here will understand this.

My apologies for the tired question, then! Where I'm from, we have animals that are incapable of speech - or at least speech we understand - and monsters, some of whom can communicate. That was my closest guess, but it would seem that our worlds differ greatly! How fascinating... Ah, I could spend hours questioning everyone about the worlds they come from...

[Is this a thing he won't do and thus a regret, or an ominous promise?? You decide!!]

[Yes, he looked at the statues so he knows what it says, but let's at least have a little decorum here.]

It is interesting, I have to admit. There are creatures without reason where I am from, but they are specific kinds of creatures, you know? Insects and the like. I suppose you having multiple kinds of people at least feels more familiar than... just humans, which seems to be the case elsewhere.

Precisely. The idea of a world with only humans seems so bizarre, truly... We have deimori, like myself, elves, and sentinels as well, making up the Spoken races who live in "civilized" society, although monsters have their own separate societies and hierarchies. My research touched on monsters for a time, so much of what I learned is not common knowledge, but even so...

[Ah, so much to learn, but he's getting distracted. Zvei shakes his head as if to clear it and tries to get back on track.]

[Well. At least one of them has some sort of healing spell. Though Astarion does seem fascinated that there was no incantation needed to use the spell. How curious.]

Perhaps we should wait a while before it comes to bloodshed, hm?

Well, usually. It seems there may be some sort of block on my magic, as it feels... sluggish. As though the flow is partially restricted, rather than fully blocked as it can be with some spells. Those have a tendency to wear off in time, though, so perhaps it's merely a matter of arriving in this world causing some sort of issues. Regardless, I should still prove to be a fairly capable healer, should the need arise.

[That was a lot of words to say "idk what's going on but it's probably fine". Welcome to dealing with Zvei.]

[ Alright let's explore a little more, what's in this roohmygod— ]

H-h-hhheeey, hey, whoa—!

[ Alex swoops in, reaching for the knife while also, like, not wanting to get close? At all? Boy's at war with himself. ]

Wh-what're you doing, careful with that!

[ He looks to address the prick, the injury he just saw, but-

Oh. Uhh. Well. It looks like it's...closed?

Hm. ]

...You...had this under control the whole time. Didn't you.

[Zvei's expression doesn't change at all from the casual smile; if he's surprised at all by Alex's sudden appearance and approach, it doesn't show.]

That I did! I never cause a wound I cannot heal.

[Is that true?? Ehhhhhh, who cares??]

I was merely testing a theory; it would seem my magic is behaving oddly and I thought it best not to ask anyone if I could cut them open.

[This is said jokingly, but it is 110% not a joke. He literally had to stop and consider whether he should or not.]

It really is quite the dilemma to find oneself in.

[ uh she LIVES to interrupt, there's a whole-ass boss baby in this scroll room now and she looks like a kid in a candy store. ]

Do forgive me for interrupting... but your abilities are blocked, I assume? Not entirely, of course, but just enough to ensure you knew something was off.

My spells have similarly been compromised, though I'll admit I don't know any curative magic.

[Do not underestimate small children, they can absolutely be just as powerful as adults. Not that he actually knows how to talk to kids, so he's just addressing her as he would anyone else. Which is probably a good thing in this scenario, but y'know.]

Correct. Not to brag or anything, but I am quite the capable healer, and yet it feels like my healing magic is being restricted in some way. The flow isn't quite what it should be, but it isn't entirely blocked off like a spell would be capable of doing. It's a very strange feeling!

I could come up with several theories, but given how little we know about this world and how it interacts with our own and the magics contained within, it would be pointless guessing.

[Is that going to stop him from doing it anyway? Nnnnnno.]

Regardless, it is worth bringing up to Miss Athena the next time we see her; I imagine she expects us to have plenty more questions as we get accustomed to this world and what it has to offer us. I'm not entirely sure how we're supposed to go about using our new godhood to help this world either...

That's correct. Is it uncommon where you're from? There are those better suited to learn it in Aelios, but anyone with enough dedication can utilize it.

I wouldn't know where to begin with figuring out what happened.

I do hope she has an explanation for all of this.
