Week one

You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.

It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

[ She pauses, thinking the statement over, before taking a few more steps towards the fire without him. ]

I don't know if I can say "never". Maybe at one point I did but I... was quite young when I was convinced to don the veil.

[ Blaming Father Hans for this. It's always that fucker's fault. ]

But I do know one thing for certain: I haven't used this in a very long time.

[ She lifts her arm up, holding the Bible in one hand ]

Nor do I want to.

[ And then with a powerful swing, she throws it right into the bonfire. ]

[ This seems...incredibly significant for her. From how she talks, how she carries herself... This is a huge step. Just that one word, convinced, it implies a lot, and none of it good.

Alex wishes he could be standing beside her, showing his support that way. But crackles of flame dance in his eyes, and he remembers the feeling of fire engulfing his body. Had he actually died then, it would've been over. He wouldn't have to relive it, again and again, every time he catches sight of a stray flame.

But he didn't. And he does.

So, with one restrained flinch, he stays rooted to the spot, watching Lebkuchen burn her Bible from behind. ]

...Good fuckin' riddance. God's never been in the habit of doin' anything for anyone, far as I can tell.
