Week one

You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.

It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

we're all nerds here(?)

[hello child, welcome to godhood and also whatever nonsense this conversation is about to be!!]

Aha, someone in the same predicament, I assume?

[Do not underestimate small children, they can absolutely be just as powerful as adults. Not that he actually knows how to talk to kids, so he's just addressing her as he would anyone else. Which is probably a good thing in this scenario, but y'know.]

Correct. Not to brag or anything, but I am quite the capable healer, and yet it feels like my healing magic is being restricted in some way. The flow isn't quite what it should be, but it isn't entirely blocked off like a spell would be capable of doing. It's a very strange feeling!

Well! I've no intention of bragging, either.

[ Which is a yes to the powers thing! ]

Especially not if we're all at a disadvantage. [ She taps one finger to her lower lip, considering. ] How to describe it... yes, flow is a good word, I think. Picture one's energy as a brook running through one's body. It's not as if a dam has been made, now is it? Nor is it that the source itself has dried up. It feels more like a branch has been deliberately dropped in a narrow spot, and it's impeding the proper motion of things. Muddying the waters, so to speak.

An excellent description of how it feels.

[Do kids talk like this?? Ehh. He wouldn't know, he's never spent any time around them.]

My greatest asset is usually my healing magic, but with the flow restrained like this, I may need to rely on my other skills more. It is something noteworthy, should one of us become seriously injured. Not that I expect that to happen, of course.

[Of course.]

[ Of course. ]

Oh, I should hope not, but it would be silly to think danger won't arrive. We are here to repair a world, after all... though I wonder at Athena's reasoning, don't you? If she's responsible for limiting you, that is.

I would imagine that it isn't her doing, as that makes little sense. Surely having a skilled healer would be ideal in this scenario, just in case. But if it was intentional... Well, that raises all sorts of questions, doesn't it?

[He's still not entirely sure he buys what Athena's saying, after all. Hmm!]

Exactly! Yes, that's just what I was thinking. Why would a commander ever deliberately choose to weaken her own army? It would be a foolish choice for anyone to make, much less a goddess of wisdom... so the source is likely someone or something else.

Well, unless she felt some need to make a contingency plan.

A contingency plan... ah, in case she was worried we might turn against her? Certainly a valid concern, given how many of us there are.

Mm. Whether she's honest about her reasons or she's lying, that woman still has to keep control over a group of impatient children who outnumber her twenty to one. Even if she's capable of taking us all on at once, doing so certainly isn't ideal.

Truthfully, I'd rather that were the case! It's simple to understand why Athena would want an advantage over us. But a third party, who hasn't shown their hand... now, that could be troublesome.

I see what you're saying. Better the enemy you know - or at least have some idea of, right? We at least know a bit about her, which is better than whatever unknown and unseen potential enemy we may face.

[But surely that won't happen!!]
