You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.

It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

It was. Nothing too unexpected -- although I'd have liked actionable instructions on how to get started with our shared goal...

Oh, agreed. It seems silly to have left us without that, though I suppose none of us thought to ask...

[A bit much to take in all at once, so perhaps Athena just wants to let us settle in first. Zvei has never been fond of sitting idle, though.]

Though I'll admit, I'm not quite sure how my "domain" will be of help.

["Death" is a little ominous and counterintuitive for bringing life back into this world, isn't it??]

It could be this world is in trouble because the balance of life and death was disturbed.

[Misane is silent for a moment, until she tapped her hands together a couple times, frowning]

I don't know what I just said. I have never thought of this kind of thing before.

[She just said something that sounded right and, given what kind of situation they're in, she might not be wrong, eh?]

No, no, you may be onto something there. "Death" as a domain is a rather ominous and seemingly at odds with what our Lady Athena called us here for - but that could very well be exactly it, that there's issues with the very balance of the fabric of this world. Hmm, curious... I'll have to ask her more questions about it when I get the chance.

[This is the sort of theorizing that he enjoys, so Misane's fine, don't worry about it.]

In that case, domain over death might be more immediately useful than my own domain over determination. I'm still unsure how that might be of help -- or even what skills I might have soon...

I wouldn't rule out the power of determination just yet! After all, if it applies to us as well, that may very well bolster our abilities, or something of the sort. I would assume a power based on "determination" would be supportive in nature... But I'm not entirely sure if our powers connect to our domains or not. There's so much we still have to learn!

[He sounds so excited. Likes: learning...]

I'm not infallingly determined -- but if this is the tool I was given then I'll make the best of it.

[She has nothing against playing a support role, at least. Even though her career as a detective means she should be front and center for a lot of things, she has no objections to being in the background providing support]

I do wonder how and why we were assigned our domains... even should "death" prove useful to this world, it is a little ominous, isn't it?

Some of the domains listed are very esoteric. We should have asked for explanations.

I suppose most of us were a bit preoccupied with... other things...

She also said she didn't make these statues. No answer as to who did.

Hmm... That is rather strange, as she was the one who reached out to us, and seems to be the only other person - or god - here. I can't see why she'd lie about such a thing, though...

[Huh... Maybe there's someone else she isn't aware of?]

I'm inclined to think she's unaware. I see no reason for her to keep quiet about anything else -- we need information, and if it's something we wouldn't like there's nothing we can do to escape on our own.

Yes, that's a sensible conclusion to come to. It is possible she's lying and there's more to our presence here... but there's no sense in jumping at shadows just yet. Until she's given us a reason to doubt her, I believe it's safe enough to take her at her word.

What will make you doubt her?

[She has a certain affinity for trying to dig what makes people tick, although that's mostly because of her social interaction canon, haha]

Contradicting information, mainly. If she says something that can be disproven or seems at odds with what we find... that sort of thing!

Alright. In that case, if you can figure out how to make the lift work, we can get a move on. I tried and failed.

[Mostly because pushing random levers and pressing random buttons did not result in the lift miraculously working]

An inaccessible place is the obvious place to check for anything not revealed so far.

I'll take a look at it, but my expertise is in magic, not mechanical workings.

[Now if it had a magic rock made of souls involved, we'd be getting somewhere, but, well. Anyway, let's go check it out!]

I am in agreement, though. It seems odd to have some place inaccessible to us, doesn't it?

It could have been surrounded by a barrier if it were dangerous...

[But since it wasn't, Misane has to assume there's no danger. Look at that lift -- so harmless. Totally won't lead to a trial room for people to argue at and vote for an execution, am I right]

Indeed! Or we would have been warned to stay away, either by Lady Athena herself or within the rules. Though then again, considering some of the people here, that might just backfire...

[Some of us are absolutely the type to ignore all common sense and mess with things we shouldn't. But anyway!!

Zvei hums to himself as he surveys the lift and chains, all of it seems like it should be operational as is, but pulling on whatever levers we have access to does nothing, and he isn't nearly strong enough to try to move the chains himself, so he doesn't even bother trying. Zvei taps a finger to his chin in thought.]

It would seem to be operational, though like you noted, it isn't working. I don't sense any magic keeping it in place, nor are there any obvious signs of damage... But short of someone with immense strength, I'm not sure there's any way to get it to move right now.

Hm, is it? Well, I don't feel any stronger than usual. Do you?

[Did someone get super strength here, that'd be handy!!]

I haven't felt anything different. If it wasn't for how Athena said we're all gods already I would have been completely unaware...

[Like she's trying to test if she's super strong, she tries to lift the panel control off its spot. She fails miserably]

I don't think it even nudged.

I don't think it did. Unfortunately, I doubt I'm any stronger than you are.

[i mean he is dorito-shaped but he's also a mage and a scientist. 2/3rds of that is not cut out for anything physical.]

She did say that we have a new power, but I'm not entirely sure what mine is. I certainly don't believe it's strength though, I would have noticed by now if it was! Could you imagine if I simply yanked a door off its hinges?
