Week one

You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.

It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

I'm not gonna argue that. Never hurts to be able to double check your numbers. [he sets the tome aside in another pile]

Precisely!

[Anyway, he'll head on over and take a peek through some of these scrolls; don't worry, he's only looking through the one's Quark's already sorted, and he's making sure to put them back where he found them so as not to mess up the process.]

You're... Quark, yes? "God of Community"... if I'm remembering right.

[Not that he's memorized all the information present on anyone or anything, that'd be silly!!]

In the flesh. [The corner of Quark's mouth curls up into a genial smile]

And you're Zvei. God of Death. [he says it mildly, without judgement] Your bit of trivia said you've done this whole God thing before?

[A nod!]

Not quite the same experience, granted! I did have the powers of a god for a few minutes through merging with one, though that wasn't permanent.

Merging with a god. [he tilts his head a little, clearly curious] How'd that come about, if you don't mind my asking?

Hmm... Let's see, how do I explain this without explaining my research first...?

[we will be here for five+ hours if he gets started, but at least he's aware he cannot stop yapping about it...]

The Aeli - the World Tree, the source of life within Aelios and the god in question - is housed on an island surrounded by an impenetrable barrier. Our guild's goal was to explore the Aeli, and so they hired me to break the barrier. I did just that with the help of powerful magical stones known as magicaeli, but a rather unfortunate side effect of all of that was that I was rather susceptible to the Aeli's influence and I was merged into it. My allies were able to free me, obviously.

[He wouldn't exactly look like this otherwise!]

Obviously. [he agrees, though it's definitely not obvious at all lmao]

So that god's gone completely now and you got the power replaced with a different one?

Not exactly. The Aeli still exists - as it is the very foundation of the world, if one mortal was able to overpower it, that would be quite the feat! It's merely that for a time, I was borrowing its power. Now that we're separated, the Aeli continues to exist as it once did, as do I. I did lose access to its power once I was separated from it, of course, though the experience was quite different from this one. I don't feel a secondary conscience within me this time, after all.

I'd count that as better than last time, personally. I can't imagine sharing the real estate between your ears being pleasant.

Oh, it wasn't. Having someone else access your every thought? Truly terrible.

[He doesn't sound all that bothered by it, though...]

But enough about me! Tell me about the world you come from - and your people!

Oh, me? [that'll get a cheeky smile out of him, clearly pleased to be asked.]

How much is space travel a thing in your universe?

Not at all. The world I come from is focused on magic rather than technology. We're quite a ways behind even what is present here. Space travel... that sounds amazing, truly.

It can be. There's some pretty great planets out there. There's also some not-so-great ones, but if you just avoid those, it's fine.

What about the one you come from? Is that a "pretty great" planet?

Ferenginar? Well, it's no Risa, but I can't say it doesn't have its charms. It's constantly raining, and one big swamp if you go outside the city. If you stay inside it, though, you've got some grand, gorgeous buildings! There's the Sacred Marketplace, the Tower of Commerce, the Museum of Bribery, the Museum of Gambling, the Museum of Haggling...all great places to visit, if you're a tourist.
