It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

[Aaaaaand that is exactly Athena's voice, albeit with a slightly Old Timey Radio type echo to it.]

I expected to hear an imitation but I didn't think it'd be so accurate.

[With an echo that hints it wasn't entirely a natural talent at making voices -- perhaps an implanted record of some sort, she guessed -- but still, the accuracy surprised her!]

[Yeah she didn't expect that level of accuracy either.]

Erm...is that something you had never done before?

[A new skill...? Perhaps due to the god status now they have...?]

I've mocked people before, yes. It's never come out like an ancient analogue recording, no.

Do you feel anything different about your neck at all?

[Athena is a goddess and shouldn't need surgeries to implant something, but that wouldn't make such a thought any less invasive, really]

If it wasn't some new implant then...is it a god power of some kind? [......] What's your domain?

[There are so many technology explanations for this Misane feels so weird talking about god powers instead, but hey, by now she has had talks with others, she probably has heard some have budding powers of some sort]

Please list reasons it would be bad to kill Athena, I'm having trouble thinking of any.

[Ah. The pun dawns on Misane immediately. Oh boy, what a mess. Someone has a sense of humor, huh.

Misane crosses her arms]

I have one: Athena may not be the one who came up with this. If the statues weren't made by her, and the statues have engravings about us and what we can do, there's a good chance the titles and powers we got weren't assigned by her either.

[Also murder is bad, Misane would like not to have to investigate and indict you for Athena's death]

[Fine, Athena lives- as much as she already was going to, honestly. No way Vanity would be able to take her no matter what she thinks.]

Have YOU had anything new happen so far, on the god front- thing?

All I have found so far is that I didn't gain super strength. It's a disappointment.

[She'd have liked to have more strength, alas]

I still haven't figured out how 'determination' can help here. I'm not unfailingly determined in the first place.

[Vanity thinks for a second, over the new information presented by her sudden mimicry.]

Maybe "determination" as in determining- I don't know, truth? Answers? If these titles are all fucking wordplay.

...that could actually be accurate. It would fit with my training.

[It sure would be wordplay, and therefore it seems likely. Kind of frustrating, that the wordplay is the biggest evidence, but whatever!

Still, Misane huffs, and murmurs:]

Whoever set the titles really could have afforded to be more straightforward.

[This is why just monopolizing the market is the go-to move, you don't need to bother with clever ads when customers don't actually have a choice.]

They could have, but then we wouldn't get to figure out the joke and see how clever they are.

[Misane looks down at th etable, eyes narrowed. In her head she's thinking of all the titles.

And, slowly, her face takes a very obvious frown]

I'm not impressed.

They should have allowed us to make our own titles. I'd have named myself something like...

[Misane pauses, unsure what to even say. Even though she was saying this, she hadn't thought of a name]

...the Violet Ranger.

[Okay, maybe it's good someone named her the Goddess of Determination]

[Turning that over in her head for a moment.]

...Like the Toei Security Forces?

That depends. Do they wear suits and helmets of a color, and make poses?

[It's a nice thing that in her world in the year 2231 sentai shows still exist]

That's them. Bunch of guys in specialized combat armor.

[It definitely skirts a lot of laws that Vanity's creation outright broke, or so the rumors go, but nothing's been proven. Technically.]

They put out all kinds of programming and video about them. Total propaganda, but I have to admit it's pretty entertaining.

I'm glad where I'm from they're not propaganda at all. I'd be disappointed if it turned out they are.

[They better not be, at least! She wouldn't know for sure!]

So to be clear, there's a Toei corporation in your world as well? That's a strange point of commonality.

I think there is. It's strange -- I don't think they're some sort of security corporation, they're just creators of shows. Or something like that.

Maybe it's some...universal constant.

[Of all things, Toei might be the universal constant]

Oh, Toei is a communications company. The security forces protect their own assets, they don't get hired out as protection.
