Week one

You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.

It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

None of them seem all that embarrassing... Is yours embarrassing?

[Is being a former noble embarrassing?? Hell if he knows.]

Hm. Embarrassing is perhaps not the right word. A bit shameful, perhaps.

Oh? How so?

[asks the man with 0 concept of shame,]

My family's titles were taken from me due to my father's traitorous actions. We no longer see to the territory our family has maintained for over a thousand years...

I had no part in his scheming, but the dishonor is mine to bear regardless.

[dislikes: ignobility]

Oh! I see!

[Noble things that he doesn't get because he scarcely has a concept of nobility, got it! But he can at least follow along.]

A thousand years... That's quite a long time to rule over territory. Your father's actions were truly that horrid that your entire family was punished for them?

Leading a coup certainly was enough, yes. As well as aiding in the death of nearly the entire royal family.

[He didn't know the details of how all of Edelgard's siblings died- even his snooping and access to his father's records left it all so vague. But the heat in Edelgard and Hubert's eyes any time it comes up tells him enough.

As does his Emperor's snow white hair. He doesn't need to know the how- the why was already horrific enough]

Do not get me wrong: I agree with the Emperor's actions in this, and am grateful I was allowed to continue serving her. But it is a bit... bitter seeing it laid out for all to see so plainly. Like I am being mocked.

Aha, you were being quite literal about the treason, I see. Yes, staging a coup would result in drastic actions, I suppose.

[Emirre recently went through some political coup bullshit as well, but he was busy with his research and didn't pay enough attention to that, so that's about the limit on his knowledge of such things.]

I can see how having a wound that raw dragged out into the open would be mocking. My apologies for the insensitive questions.

No, no- if it bothered me too much I would not have answered. I have had a few years now to work through my anger over it.

[Have you buddy? Have you?]

And better to explain than have others speculate and come up with unflattering theories.

[Ferdinand says he's fine, therefore he is fine!! That's just facts and logic!!]

Oh, that's certainly fair. Could you imagine some of the stories people might come up with? Truly a horrid idea. Regardless, I'll keep your story to myself; you have my thanks for sharing... Ferdinand, was it?

[He glances back over at the statue as if to double check, but yeah he has totally memorized everything here already.]

Yes, Ferdinad von Aegir!

[even after all that talk of dishonor he sure seems proud of his name lol]

And you are Zvei, yes?

[omg the third ferdinand von aegir mention!!]

That's the name I chose for myself, yes. Pleased to meet you, Ferdinand.

'Chose?'

[Oh, curious! It's not really his business, but the question pops out before politeness can catch up]

Oh - yes, chose. I don't remember my original name. Or anything about who I was back then. I awoke without my memories... let's see, twelve years ago, now? Something like that.

It was a truly harrowing experience.

[He says, though only seems slightly more serious than usual...]

But I've managed to press on despite it.

I am impressed! I admit I would have floundered quite a bit in the same situation.

[personal profile] necromants 2025-07-10 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
There was little point in floundering without anyone to assist me.

[He delivers it in the same straightforward, unbothered manner as usual. Just a fact, nothing more.]

But that is in the past, and something I'd rather not dwell on.

Ah, my apologies- I did not mean to pry.
