You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.

It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

[ Lebkuchen's got Quark, and Alex starts to make for him, but something occurs to him: How did the fire start in the first place? This is when he sees 1) the oven open and 2) the burner—

He scrambles over, sliding just a little on the wet floor but not falling, and turns off the burner. On the stove, he finds the remains of a charred rag and...ah. That explains that.

Closing up the oven, he looks at the group at large. His hands are shaking just a little. ]

Y-you can't- leave these. Not unattended.

[ thanks wet sweaty tall child. ]

[first, to Cerejeira:]

Who else do you think it is?! [gesturing to the rain, and then to each person in turn--] Leb's got flowers, and Aoi's connections which doesn't have anything to do with rain, Alex is life, which I doubt this is linked to, and I'm community, so it's defintely not mine. It's a process of elimination, and if clouds like this are associated with anything, it would be gloom like the kind you've got goin' on!

[he huffs, turning his attention to Leb next, that prickliness fadding at the offered hand] Leb, you're a bar of latinum and a half and don't let anyone tell you different. [he'll reach up to take her hand, wincing as his back protests] Augh--I'm gonna feel that for a couple days.

[Finally, to Alex] We weren't leaving it unattended! We were here the whole time.

[this was, perhaps, the problem.]

[Oh, is Alex mad at them now? Well, she doesn't want anybody else to get blamed, so she speaks up.]

...Aoi turned the burner on to show how it works.

[She looks a bit sad.]

Did Aoi mess up?

I'm afraid I don't know what latinum is but I accept the compliment. [ Helping him up!!

And then to Aoi. ]

No, you didn't. We were all just a little careless, it seems.

...Oh for-- I can make rain. Great.

[what a way to find out, too. ugh.

you know what, time to get up off the wet floor. she's soaked and it's her own fault? can't have shit in god city.]

I was going to help them turn it off, but then... [she gestures at all of the water. all of it.]

I-i-i- it's fine. [ he sounds so fucking exasperated. ] We just need a mop so no one else slips, like—

[ Alex frowns. Quark said something about... ]

Hey. Hold still, okay? Gimme, just, I have a, a hunch, I think...

[ He's kind of stammering, babbling, but Alex reaches his hands towards Quark's back. From the moment he lays a single finger on Quark, two things happen:

One, Quark will feel a great relief flood through him. The pain, in fact, should be completely gone after about ten seconds.

Two, even though you are inside, a gentle breeze runs over everyone in the room. It may, in fact, blow Cerejeira's poor raincloud a little.

Alex winces for a moment. His other hand rests on his own back.

But then he grins. ]

Did, uh, did that work?

[Quark blinks, tensing a bit as Alex reaches out a hand towards him, but he doesn't move away. However, when that relief comes, he's slumping, whatever remaining tension going out of him as he breathes out a a relieved sigh]

Oh, that's much better! [He straightens again, rolling his shoulders and stretching a bit] I think this is the best my back's felt in a while.

[he's so busy being being surprised and delighted about his back that he hasn't quite noticed where Alex has placed his other hand yet]

[Aoi still looks a little dampened in spirits, but that may just have to do with her being damp. The cool breeze and Quark's raising spirits do help with that.]

Cerejeira and Alex did save us...your powers are cool.

[ Going to carefully take a step back so she can have a look around for anything still remotely dry ]

No one would happen to have an instant drying power would they? Or one that creates towels?

I think Alex did the actual saving, honestly...

[and to Leb, meanwhile:] I wish... Sorry.

[you know what, though, she's just... gonna take off her jacket. and carefully put that over Leb? it's a little late, but impromptu umbrella.]

...Best I got until we get out of the kitchen, I think-- oh.

[and the rain stops. though the dark clouds in the room remain, at least no one's actively getting wet anymore. rejoice.]

[ Yaaaaay he did something right... A grimace breaks through his grin, but it's fine, Alex just leans against one of the walls. Guess he needs to practice more with this! ]

I just did what anyone else would do. I smelled the smoke and heard one of the girls screaming, and...

[ ran to find both a bucket and a water source, settling for making a mad dash back to his cabin to fill it up and returning in like. two minutes of frantic panic?

...hm.

Anyway, ]

If something like this happens again, at least you've got a...portable water supply?

[Alright, no matter how elated he is about his back, he really can't ignore Alex obviously leaning on the wall like that.]

...you alright?

That wasn't a girl. That was Quark.

[Aoi just stands there dripping for a bit, then grabs a soggy napkin to wipe at her face pointlessly, then offers one to Leb.]

Yeah, Alex is right! Cerejeira can populate the local plant life with her rain powers. It's good for the environment.

Cerejeira’s gesture wasn’t… at all what she had expected. And for a moment she’s even blushing over it, a little too surprised to speak— ]

[ —and then thankfully Aoi is also offering a soggy napkin and the absurdity of it all helps her find her words again, starting with a soft giggle. ]

My…! Thank you - both of you. I feel so taken care of. [ Yes she is even taking the napkin!! ]

And yes, I can also confirm that that was Mr. Quark.
