This one had been more costly than most: Typhon's machinations have brought your group to nearly half the size it was when Athena first brought you to this island. Whether it ends with him or with you is still too soon to make out. One thing's for certain. Things cannot be allowed to continue as they are.

Speaking of continuing, the next floor has been revealed to you. Just how far down this island goes is a bit of a mystery, but you get the feeling that you're close to something important. Maybe that thing Athena wanted you to find before Typhon does. You can ruminate on that as you watch the waters below. Waves still lap at the cliffs, but it all seems lower than it did weeks ago. Like the ocean itself is shrinking...

[Another high-pitched scream resounds from the room. One louder, shriller and more terror-stricken than the one Vanity let out just now. In an instant, Ranma's atop the cornucopia latching on for dear life staring at the box and its occupant with pinpricks in his eyes.

[She takes a second to scrub at one ear. And then realizes it means she's holding The Box in one arm. With a startled squeak she shoves it back out to arms length.]

Do you recognize this thing, Saotome?!

Ranma scrambles higher on the horn when Vanity holds the box and subsequently IT out.]

YES! [So don't shove it at him!] K-KEEP IT AWAY FROM ME!!!

[He recognizes it, but not in the way she meant.]

[She manages to not quite drop the box, but she's setting it down and backing away rapidly.]

The fuck is it?!

[If it's got Ranma, the boy who has been rushing headlong into danger against monsters and went toe-to-toe with Omega without a second thought, terrified, it must truly be--]

[Vanity why didn't you close the box the little monster's looking right at him?!?!?]

[Shaking uncontrollably, teeth noisily clattering together with a thousand yard look to his eyes.]

[... the cat, during this comedy of misunderstandings, hasn't budged an itch from its box and has been watching this unfold before its beady eyes. It's honestly just vibing.]

[Vanity takes a breath. Inches forward.]

[And gingerly folds the box shut as Eru gives a now-muffled, slightly pathetic meow.]

[His anathema out of sight (unfortunate not out of earshot), Vanity'll watch the pigtailed boy start to ease and be less, for lack of better words, scared shitless.]

[Why didn't he consider the possibility that one of those things could've been dispensed!!!]

[She's squatting by the box, catching her breath.]

More importantly... this never happened. We were both INCREDIBLY CHILL AND NORMAL about it.
