Week Six
You've survived, for lack of better wording, the latest week of trials and tribulations. This one had been more costly than most: Typhon's machinations have brought your group to nearly half the size it was when Athena first brought you to this island. Whether it ends with him or with you is still too soon to make out. One thing's for certain. Things cannot be allowed to continue as they are.
Speaking of continuing, the next floor has been revealed to you. Just how far down this island goes is a bit of a mystery, but you get the feeling that you're close to something important. Maybe that thing Athena wanted you to find before Typhon does. You can ruminate on that as you watch the waters below. Waves still lap at the cliffs, but it all seems lower than it did weeks ago. Like the ocean itself is shrinking...

MOTIVE: And Hunger Is So Heavy
That’s when the laughter comes from the open sky. Quiet at first, and sinister.]
Being denied the satiation of my hunger for so long, I believe it is only fair for you to experience the same. A simpler incentive for death, but I’m certain you mortals will find it… tasteful.
I have made it so the stocks of your pantry will run dry by the end of the week. They will not replenish, unless death comes to at least one of you. I doubt the end result will be lost on any of you.
So, go. Sate my appetite for a change. Haha!
[There isn’t much in the way of signs of Typhon to vanish at the end of his threat. Still, it seems he’s used his power to strike at you directly this time.
OOC: General motive notes! Half of the food in the pantry has turned to ash and is no longer edible unless you’re into that. This includes things like tea and coffee. Quark's replicator will only be able to produce drinks.
The fruits and vegetables in the garden have withered on the vine and in the ground for the remainder of the week. The grape vines in the bar have, somehow, escaped this fate.]

IT...APPEARS WE WILL HAVE TO SCHEDULE RATIONS. I AM SORRY MY FRIENDS. WE HAVE NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER.

Gah- sijfnfv thpppt-!!
[Oh that's rough buddy. He's spitting ash in the sink when anyone finds him]

...fuck.

Oh, come on!

[ Luna immediately takes off, and then returns a few moments later. ]
And after all that work!
no subject
...Fuck.

[well. there ARE presumably inedible flowers, so his bee will be fine. …and there are some bugs in the garden…]
…
They’re on the small side, but I suppose I will have to attempt to be a hunter for now…

[Over a month later, and Typhon has finally doled out a threat that Astarion is terrified of.]

Good thing he doesn't have much appetite this week to begin with?]

[After he JUST cooked that lunch you bitch! Ranma stares flatly at the ash sitting on the grill, mocking him more than the motive. He's more annoyed than worried per se, he's spent longer periods without eating. In training, in Picolet's crummy Martial Arts Dining challenge, he can last.
But. Can the others? Only half their food supplies being destroyed isn't a coincidence. Typhon wants them to fight over scraps, get them more agitated and at odds with one another...]
... Shit.

She's genuinely relieved to have had that meal after the trial, now! And that makes her furious anyway, both for what could have been, had Quark's machine been less effective, and for what's technically been true all this time. The motive's always been in play for Riful. Oh, on a practical level she'll be able to go a week and a half before she needs to eat, but that hardly matters! Hunger is at the heart of her, a feverish and constant need that's almost as pleasant as it is gnawing. It can never truly be sated, only fed.
Ah, well. The others can't last as long as her. Someone will kill over this, and in the meantime, she supposes they'll all know exactly how nice she's actually been over the last month. ]
You know, you should have just approached me from the beginning. [ To be fair, she's at the cliffs right now, so not everyone gets this unhinged screed, but you can absolutely overhear it! ] It would have been nice to talk to someone else who understands, and maybe we could have come to terms! But since someone doesn't understand how to speak civilly, I had to open up to the others, and now it's too late for all that. In fact, after all the weeks of hunger, I know something for certain.
[ In the words of many gagtags, ehehehe. Teehee. ]
The next living creature I eat is going to be you. No matter how vile you taste, that's a promise. I'll tear you open, pull your guts free with my bare hands, and devour your heart while it's still beating. Does that sound agreeable?

Oh?
Well, then... how kind of you to say, Aoi.

investigation
For a special occasion, I should think.
[Later you might find him in the new Music Room, exploring. He never picked up an instrument in his youth, but he always found them interesting. But it's the stage that draws him- thanks to Vanity's warning on the plaque he at least knows to stay away from the pool, but he has no issue using the stage itself to... practice singing! His voice isn't bad, actually, and the acoustics do him some wonderful favors. He's no professional, but the piece he's belting is clearly well loved and practiced. Some story of a girl who fell for a beast.
And even later he wanders into the Hall of Stories to investigate, stopping to try and decipher the tales shown on the walls. As well as oohing and aahing over the impressive suits of armor]

...Oh, this must be the play he told her about... ]

Drink deep, weary wanderer. For the rivers and the rains are fickle. But but my cup runs endless if only you would stay.
[Oh, that is familiar]

investigation
Starting at the beginning, intricate shapes have been carved carefully into the stone, almost like little dioramas in the way they stand out. The first section appears to represent the island you're on right now. Gleaming golden buildings that dig deeper and deeper into the rock. Dozens of little figures congregate on it, taking in the splendor of this paradise.
One, however, skulks in the shadow of the island, away from the others. Plotting.]
