Week Six

You've survived, for lack of better wording, the latest week of trials and tribulations. This one had been more costly than most: Typhon's machinations have brought your group to nearly half the size it was when Athena first brought you to this island. Whether it ends with him or with you is still too soon to make out. One thing's for certain. Things cannot be allowed to continue as they are.

Speaking of continuing, the next floor has been revealed to you. Just how far down this island goes is a bit of a mystery, but you get the feeling that you're close to something important. Maybe that thing Athena wanted you to find before Typhon does. You can ruminate on that as you watch the waters below. Waves still lap at the cliffs, but it all seems lower than it did weeks ago. Like the ocean itself is shrinking...

[for once, Quark doesn't start the day by opening up his shop, once Critwo and Fritz are fed. It's less than normal, but it'll have to do. Instead, after visiting the cornucopia and getting some things, sorting them, and putting the ones that don't belong to anyone away, he's going to head over to the training grounds. He paces around the parameter for a while, before standing in one of the corners and just...trying to conjure up that bar again. He tries again, and again, but all he can seem to manage is that flickering force field for a long moment, before, without anyone to talk to, it fizzles out again. It is, in fact, exhausting, and after a dozen or so tries, he ends up leaning on the wall, panting.]

[After he's given that a few tries, he'll head to the lift room on the fourth floor. There, he's going to investigate and try and pry open the doors while the lift is on another floor. Just to see if he can.

Successful or unsuccessful, he'll head to the bar and start getting it ready to open it up for the afternoon.]

[ Omega arrives just as Quark is getting the bar ready, and spies the golden rings that Quark has sitting on the bar. His eyes light up in recognition, and he hurries over to where Quark is sitting. ]

RINGS! QUARK, YOU ARE MOST FORTUNATE. YOU HAVE ACQUIRED ANOTHER METHOD OF PROTECTION FOR YOURSELF.

[Quark blinks at that, glancing up from his inventorying of the bar]

I've got what?

THEY ARE CALLED RINGS. THEY ARE ITEMS FROM MY WORLD THAT PROTECT THEIR HOLDER FROM ANY KIND OF DAMAGE. IF YOU SUFFER ANY FORM OF ATTACK WHILE HOLDING THEM, THEY WILL ABSORB THE STRIKE AND FLY FROM YOUR BODY. YOU WILL THEN HAVE A LIMITED AMOUNT OF TIME TO RECOLLECT THEM BEFORE THEY DISAPPEAR.

[She's tiredly scanning over the piles of loot.]

Not yet that I can see, anyway. [he nudges a couple things into place]

This thing really loves hiding the valuables in with the-

[And she pauses, seeing the the combat uniform.]

[well that makes him glance over]

What is it?

It was mine.

[She picks it up, inspecting it. It's clean and undamaged.]

Would have been, at least. Last one I wore got- this one's new, is the point. Or REALLY well restored. ...Or someone else here went through Aegis' combat training and they've been holding out.

[He's in luck, actually! The lift in here is less so a spacious elevator, and more of an open platform rising up and down between the floors. There's really not much to find here when the lift isn't on this level.

Besides a big hole, of course.]
