You've survived, for lack of better wording, the latest week of trials and tribulations. This one had been more costly than most: Typhon's machinations have brought your group to nearly half the size it was when Athena first brought you to this island. Whether it ends with him or with you is still too soon to make out. One thing's for certain. Things cannot be allowed to continue as they are.

Speaking of continuing, the next floor has been revealed to you. Just how far down this island goes is a bit of a mystery, but you get the feeling that you're close to something important. Maybe that thing Athena wanted you to find before Typhon does. You can ruminate on that as you watch the waters below. Waves still lap at the cliffs, but it all seems lower than it did weeks ago. Like the ocean itself is shrinking...

[He chuckles as he carefully places her on the bed, though the teasing shifts to a crocked shy smile at her question]

If... you would be comfortable with that?

[ He gets his answer in the way Velvet shyly lifts the hem of her skirt up to her knees, revealing her prosthetic legs to him. Her free hand tries to guide his own to just under one knee. ]

[Poor Ferdie's brain just goes static for a moment. Oh, better men than him have started religions over moments like this]

I... right here?

[He presses and startles slightly at the seal breaking, even though he's seen it before. Just gonna... carefully place the leg aside.]

[stringup]

Like that, yes.

[ It seems she also wears a fabric sleeve over her vestigal limbs, likely for comfort and perhaps to give the illusion that she's wearing stockings.

...She'll wait for him to do the other leg too. ]

[He takes a deep breath and moves to the other- the actual release is simple and quick, but he looks quite... intense, about it? It's placed aside like the other and he lightly rubs at the stump. He remembers her mentioning it's a bit uncomfortable after a full day back at the sleepover, after all.]

Better?

[ There's a small, airy gasp when she feels Ferdinand rubbing at the stump, and she quickly covers her mouth out of sheer embarrassment at having made that noise at all. Goodness, when did she sound like that???

After a moment: ]

M-much better.

[ ...Though she also seems a bit expectant, like she's hoping he'd like to take the sleeves off too. ]

[Yeah that's going in his mental safe for the rest of forever]

[It takes him a moment to pick up the clue, but once he does he rolls them down and, as one would expect from Ferdinand, carefully folds them before setting them next to the legs]

I feel like a squire removing a liege's armor.

...I can't say I was going for that, exactly...

[he laughs softly, eyes sparkling]

I can think of a few other possibilities, but nothing proper to say aloud.

[As he goes back to ending her muscles]

[ It's that bright look in his eyes that Velvet finds herself wanting to see over and over again, the way he seems to just light up around her. He looks beautiful that way, she thinks.

There's the sound of her muscles popping ever so slightly as she sighs while Ferdinand rubs. Apparently she's not used to getting this kind of care and attention. ]

Well...i-it's just the two of us here.

[he glances to the door, face growing pink]

Well... carrying across the threshold and rolling down a lady's stockings has a certain... connotation, does it not?

[Like a wedding night]

[stringup]

[ You can kind of tell from the look on her face that she's thinking, wait, there is? and wait, there is, simultaneously somehow. Her face is just growing redder and redder by the minute. ]

...That's. Closer, yes.

[The growing blush makes him grin, leaning up to kiss the side of her mouth]

Cute.

[stringup]

[ She turns her head to nuzzle Ferdinand's cheek in response. ]

No way. You're cuter with how enthusiastic you are.

[markofnobility]

You say when you are the one making such cute sounds!

[stringup]

I-I did not!

[ Velvet you can't gaslight him into unhearing it. ]

And even if I did, it's only because of you!

... well. I would not like it if it was because of anyone else.

[he mutters, hating himself for it but too caught up to censor like he knows he should]

[ Unfortunately for him, Velvet is close enough to hear his muttering. ]

...Dear, are you jealous?

[markofnobility]

[He sputters, blushing even harder]

N-no! I mean, who would I even be jealous of?

[stringup]

[ She reaches up to stroke his cheek with her thumb. ]

It sounded like you were jealous at the notion of someone teasing me the way you do.

[markofnobility]

[he huffs, but doesn't pull away from her petting]

I suppose... I would be a bit pressed if someone spoke to you like that.

[stringup]

"A bit pressed", huh.

...You know I wouldn't react the same way I do to you with just anyone, right?

I-i would hope not!

[stringup]

So that part of me is for your eyes and ears only.
