souls have been lost and the panic grows
[That... that was hell, actually. Wendy didn't like that at all. After the trial she... has to head to the kitchen and hopefully not find clay shit everywhere. She needs to do something to keep things under control. To keep things going.
She's not a great cook but she knows the basics. Meat. Bread. Cheese. Something warm for the belly to drink. She's nervous when she works but she's relentless. There's no asking for help from her as she makes a spread for everyone. Then... she's moving all of it not to the eatery but the bonfire.
Making makeshift tables around it and placing trays of food and drink. Even setting up a chair for Alex a good distance away from the fire but close enough that he can be part of things if he wants to.
Wendy, with her careful writing, writes up some notes and hands them out to everyone if she can find them or if not under their door.
Food at the bonfire and the area around it. Attendance not mandatory but it's probably better for all of us if we stick together. Bring more food and drink if you want.

Your little Winion friends have been hard at work scrubbing down the crime scene with little scrub brushes, wooden buckets and brooms much taller than they are. They even fixed the broken table...albeit not very well. It looks like they slapped it back together with some kind of glue that's still very wet so maybe don't use that one tonight.]

[Ranma... isn't really the greatest with comforting people, let alone when they're terrified and grieving. Oft times his words only exacerbates than they do assuage them. He debates briefly whether he should leave her be or try to say... anything.
In the end, he chooses to sit not necessarily by her, he's keeping his distance and not invading peoples' personal bubbles. But still relatively close enough to roll a water bottle at her feet.

cw brief final destination style panic spiral
So yes, Alex is here, at the edge of the gathering. He's sitting in a chair set up a good distance away. He does not have any food. He doesn't really have an appetite. He does have his little hot pink Eye-Pod, though! The little thing's trying to roll around in the grass in front of him, but its wheel keeps getting stuck. Alex, dutifully, stands and frees it when this happens. ]
Come on, buddy, again?
[ It happens often. But he's an indulgent parent/pet owner, it seems.
Eventually, despite his vigilance, he can't keep staring at everyone around the fire, waiting for...for something to happen.
Quietly, he picks up the Eye-Pod and moves to go back to his room. However...
At the pavilion he gets distracted. He catches sight of the statues, and he stops. Sayo's—Beatrice's—with its threefold design and non-distinct features. Everything that happened...it puzzles him a little. But it doesn't change the fact that the person known as Yasuda Sayo was just as much a victim as any of the rest of them. It doesn't change that she wanted to help them in whatever way she could. ...It doesn't change the fact that Crito acted likely in fear of the threat that has haunted him as well. It doesn't change anything.
At the end of the day, there's no way to stop feeling miserable about this.
He stands there for quite some time, searching for answers where there are none. ]

Zvei eventually clears his throat and approaches properly; he's not trying to startle Alex, at least.]

It will if Typhon continues to threaten us like he did this week. We have little reason to want each other dead otherwise.
[Well, outside of those that dislike each other, but even then they probably wouldn't jump to murder. Maybe.
Anyway, Zvei seems a little bit more subdued than usual, but his smile is still easy and he keeps his voice low not to draw unwanted attention to the conversation.]

That won’t stop him from standing guard.
While he does, however, he watches a holographically projected recording. What manner of recording, you might ask? Security footage taken from the original Egg Carrier. Omega watches it, on a loop, multiple times, before stopping once in between viewings: ]
WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT, GAMMA? IT WAS JUST A BIRD.
[ And then he resumes watching, and standing guard, sensors tuned towards any offending approach. Luckily, the sensors are not programmed to notify him of the approach of any comrades. ]

But there is something she can do, she thinks, knowing what she knows of comforting those who spend their time around death. So she arrives with some blankets and the like - it's not like she needs the ones on her bed, after all - and sets up a small area off to the side with a small sign that reads REST AREA - Discussion of the trial forbidden.
She doesn't spend any time inside the rest area, though, instead settling down by the fire - maybe a little closer than other people can manage - and staring into the flames. ]
So, is this what you supposed Godhood would be like?
fire
...No. It wasn't like this the first time, anyway. I could see the entire world; pluck one string and I could see how the effects would ripple through it.

Ahhhhh, it really is too bad. Losing someone so intriguing, after the very first challenge...
[ And that's about it when it comes to unprompted statements. She'll be open to conversation, of course, and perfectly pleasant... for whatever that means, now that you've seen her fling someone at the barrier like she's throwing a fastball! If you're explicitly seeking her out after the high drama of Mortis' check and the Ranma Yeet, she'll be just as receptive, but not exactly willing to blithely own up to shit in front of God and everyone.
Late at night, you can find her in the kitchen, draining blood bags while simultaneously utterly disgusted—or regarding a blood bag held in her hands and about to crack into it like it's a Capri Sun. You're going to have to broach the topic, though! She's not saying shit about shit! ]

[Ranma's here, sitting close by the fire on the ground, unusually subdued for a kid who barely sits in one spot for long. Atypical for him as well, he's not gorging himself on food. He's selected a sizeable portion, yes, but it's staying on his plate instead of being shoveled down his gullet like he's been starving for days. Only measured bites. Reflecting.
Akane's safe now, but at a steep gravely cost.
That bastard's game begun. Two (three? ranma's still trying to figure out that whole debacle) of their own are dead. Athena's gone MIA. And that bull jackass undoubtedly has more bullshit under his belt. It's only a matter of time before others start to buckle under the weight.
He can't let them. He can't fail again.
Later on in the get-together, Ranma will be walking around to whatever people he can find. Gingerly tossing water bottles gently enough they should be able to catch it. Hopefully.]
Here, drink somethin'.
[Soon afterwards, Ranma'll dip to head to where else but the training grounds. He isn't busting up the training dummies, smashing the props to pieces, or anything as destructive like that. All he's doing is meditating by the first aid supplies. Actual, normally aligned meditation, none of that upside down type he was doing the week before.
Care to join him? Because he isn't going to stop you or tell you to buzz off.]

But as he takes a position in front of the bonfire and begins a sweeping, elegant dance, the reason for the staff soon becomes clear. Perhaps there are no pyreflies here, no Farplane to send them to, but does that really matter? The sentiment behind it is still the same, Spira or no.
It is the duty of a summoner to see the dead off, no matter what they may have been responsible for in life.]

As dusk starts to fall, she'll stand and walk to the edge of the bonfire nearest the cliffs. Her horn glows and she rises into the air with heavy, deliberate wingbeats. Later, she can be found at the pavilion, after retreating to her room for some time. In her hands is... well. It's one of the spare togas, torn to stretch out into one long blanket of fabric with the edges mended and evened out by golden thread. It's a deep, inky black, unlike the one she wears, and there seems to be a pattern sewn into it; golden butterflies, dancing from one corner in slow spirals upward to the top.
She takes the fabric, simple yet held like it's something so precious, and lays it across the feet of Sayo's statue.]

He can be found hanging around the bonfire, idly chewing on a piece of bread and staring at the flames.
After he does that for a while and doesn't find the answers he's looking for, apparently, he'll stand up and head back inside to the Eatery, going through all his supplies he's stored there for the bar, and doing what looks like inventory. From there, he adjusts things minutely, wipes everythign down (avoiding the large swath of glue the Winions left,) and goes through the kitchen and pantry as well to take stock of what's there. Basically burying himself in busywork.
There is one lone drink made and left on a non-glued edge of the table. It simply sits there as he works. ]

For the most part, Ai just sits quietly by the bonfire - she does a few rounds of talking to everyone, asking how they are and making small talk with nice sounding platitudes but she's too tired today to keep it up for long. She's aware that she should feel more frightened, more desolate but just like when all this started, all she feels is numb.
It's late into the evening, when her eyes are sore for staring into the firelight, that she finally pipes up with something more real. She sounds a little like she's talking to herself as she tips her head back and lets loose a sigh into the smoky air. ]
It really was stupid to say yes. [ A bitter smile tugs at her mouth. ] I should've known all this was way too good to be true.

[Misane heard Ai talking to herself. Not surprising someone is muttering things that weren't supposed to be heard -- Misane has done the same in the past, after all -- but hearing this made Misane ask that. When she realized she asked a question, she doesn't take it back, mostly because peering into someone's motivations is never wasted time]
