Week Three
A new week rolls around. You are three people lesser than you were at this time last week. No owls mark the horizon, or tall goddesses stroll the pavilion. Wherever Athena's gone, it seems her promise to return promptly hasn't met with success... or worse.
What's more, Typhon's presence now looms over the island. His twisted game now fully realized: if you really wish to leave here, you'll need to get away with murder, and one of your own already failed and reaped the consequences. There's no change for Crito or Sayo's statues on the pavilion. They simply stand silent, watching the rest of you go about your lives as fresh godlings.
It's not all bad, however. The clouds that marked the sky as near-perpetual overcast have started to wane. Stars and sunlight have started to peak through. Within the temples, the strange force keeping you from taking those mysterious stairs has finally vanished. You're free to move to the next level of whatever this shimmering palace has to offer.

[Nonchalantly:]
My room.
[Answering like that explains anything. Ranma turns to look at wherever the CD landed.]
Are ya' not a fan of music, or does the song suck that bad?

[alex he's a teen who doesn't know whomst the fuck john denver is. He just stares like Alex started speaking gibberish.]
Uh-huh. [In the tone of someone who is going along with whatever this is] And what's your beef with this John Denver guy?
[give him the scoop]
no subject
(Yeah.) ]
The- okay, the guy himself was probably fine, he just- there's this one song that keeps fuckin' following me around, okay? It's an omen.
[ Ahhh, once again, it's an omen. ]
no subject
[it's fine, they can be weird bros together! make a club and t-shirts and everything!
Omens? Alex does seem like the type to believe in superstitions... Something he can't judge, in his world, monsters or curses or whatever the hell else is often heralded by some sign or issue of 'challenge' or declaration.
...Though given who he's talking to, Ranma's going to assume this is a death thing. Or one nasty earworm he can't stannd.
Saving the barbs, Ranma waltz up to Alex and holds out his hand for the CD.]
Lemme see it.
[How hard is it to dispose one lousy disk?]
no subject
It has...a bunch of songs Ranma probably hasn't heard. Like, dude WAS popular at a certain point in Japan but if he hasn't heard Take Me Home, Country Roads, that's it. ]
There was another one last week. Just like this one.

[Sadly, not many of these ring any bells for him. This is the same kid who didn't know what the plot of Romeo & Juliet was about in one story arc
before attempting to get the role of Romeo in that same arc, chances of him knowing songs produced by the guy are slim. At best he heard a song or two or three on a radio somewhere in a town he passed by or a store, but wouldn't be able to tell you who sang it or what the title of it was. So you know. he could've heard take me home country roads??Ranma studies the flimsy disc in his hands, tossing and flipping it over. He's not getting any bad vibes, it's just a CD. It shouldn't take much strength for him to break it in two like a kitkat bar heeeeeeeey wait is he winding his arm back--]

[THUNK! CRACK!
He. He threw it, just like Alex tried. With more force put behind it, the CD looked more like a blur shooting straight for the barrier annnnnnnnnnnnnd much like Alex, it returns to sender, striking Ranma square in the forehead.
Not only did the damned thing not shatter on the martial artist's face, it somehow sent the pigtail boy flying back a few feet on his back from the impact. Ranma lays there motionless for a few seconds...
...only raising his arm up, holding up that whiteboard again with 9.0 written on it now. How humble.]
no subject
WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU THINK THAT WAS GONNA DO HUH?!
[ Alex scurries over to check and see if Ranma's alright. Considering that stupid fucking whiteboard, he figures the bastard's fine, so he very lightly kicks Ranma's arm as well. ]
no subject
[Alex'll see the hand of the arm he nudged sloooooooowly unfurl a middle finger. He's all right.]
I thought you threw it wrong before.
[Grumbles grumbles... while the other hand holding the whiteboard flips it around, showcasing their scores on the other side: ALEX: 4.5, RANMA: 9.0]

[ Rubbing his CD dent. ]
no subject
...
[...... Silently turning the whiteboard around a fourth freaking time: "It got me a higher score."
A score he gave himself.
eh to bleh]
no subject
You're the one who scored 'em, jackass!
no subject
[Fucking. Chucks the whiteboard at Alex's head. Whether he manages to catches it or it clatters off his noggin and onto the ground, either way there's yet another new message on it replacing the others: "LETS SEE YOU DO BETTER WISE GUY!!!"]

[ he doesn't run on gag energy help- ]

[Fun's over. Bereft of any tool to further mess with Alex, Ranma finally gets back on his feet and dusts himself off.]
Pop's curse makes him unable to speak, so he uses these signs to communicate. I picked up on his technique watchin' him.
[aka that's the closest reasonable explanation for a gag op can come up with.
Buuuut they've gotten wildly off task! Ranma steps over to where the CD land and just. Tries to snap it like they should've done in the beginning. Key word is try because as they've both seen it's more durable than they thought so for all they know it could just explode like a hand grenade]
no subject
H- hey, careful—
[ It would be really funny if the CD exploded. If something just kinda blew up. It'd be hysterical.
However, this is just a CD! Why are you so nervous about it? Ranma stamps on it, and it snaps. ]
...Huh. Just that simple?
no subject
[All the trouble it gave them, he's just as surprised it didn't release some evil trapped spirit that needs to be exorcised or some other wacky misadventure of the day.]
It really was...
[...]
Why didn't you try that before?
[This fucking guy.]
no subject
Hey, you fuckin' didn't either, you can't say shit.
