Week Three Meeting

[Welcome back to the Eatery. Perhaps the mood is more somber than it was during the last meeting in here, but once again there is food and (non-alcoholic) punch to go around. Quark, Wendy and Vanity occupy the head of the table, but there’s plenty of other seats for both those that helped set up and those that didn’t. Looks like it’s time to put your heads together again and hopefully sort some things out.

Once everyone’s seated and in attendance, Quark pushes to his feet.]

Alright, we’re all pretty tired after yesterday so I’m not going to draw this out. Let’s just get started. [and he motions at Vanity, before sitting back down]

What about the forest?

[She taps the map.]

Shouldn’t we try to get to the other side first?

I...believe I could carry all of you for a little while, at least, if we went that way instead of over the sea. We could make better time that way, and avoid any difficult terrain.

Thats a lot to ask, though, isn't it? Wouldn't you get really tired?

Yes, but that is an acceptable alternative to this place.

The forest is... unsettled. I believe it would be unwise to linger there for long.

[Seymour notes this, and explains:]

We Guado have made our home amongst the trees for as long as time itself. As such, we can read them in ways that humans cannot.

[He closes his eyes.]

The forest here is filled with anger, fear, and pain, though I know not the cause. I also do not know if whatever caused those feelings still lurks within the forest.

Well... I think I might know. You see, after the motive, I explored the forest, and I felt something similar. Outside the woods, there's a different energy—it feels like life. Something ancient, older than Typhon but not entirely unlike him... but inside, it's as you said. The further in you go, the more intense the death and strife become.

I found an old battleground in the deep woods. Near the center of the forest, the earth is strewn with the skeletons of humans and monsters.

Well that outright crosses the forest off the list. Plus there's something else out there?

I didn't sense any malice from it... nor any intention at all, really. Whatever the source, it's very, very old.

So one of those it neither knows nor cares about us kind of situations. That's better than the alternative, at least.

There's nothing but more cliffs and rock walls on the other side, I'm afraid.
