Week Three Meeting

[Welcome back to the Eatery. Perhaps the mood is more somber than it was during the last meeting in here, but once again there is food and (non-alcoholic) punch to go around. Quark, Wendy and Vanity occupy the head of the table, but there’s plenty of other seats for both those that helped set up and those that didn’t. Looks like it’s time to put your heads together again and hopefully sort some things out.

Once everyone’s seated and in attendance, Quark pushes to his feet.]

Alright, we’re all pretty tired after yesterday so I’m not going to draw this out. Let’s just get started. [and he motions at Vanity, before sitting back down]

[ Alex...well, he doesn't relax because lmao he never does. But he looks a little less tense. ]

I looked through the armory earlier. There's none there. It's all older stuff, like bows and arrows. But...the horn. It popped out a gun at me earlier in the week. No bullets. But it's possible more might be in there.

So it'll rely on people volunteering whether they got a gun out of there or not.

Yeah. That's the issue.

I hid the one I got. I... I don't really wanna...volunteer where it is, just in case it gives anyone...ideas.

Right. So we're kinda stuck in a lose-lose situation here. Even if anyone who got one says so and we round them up, there's the chance that someone will get some bright idea to use it, if they know where they are. Or they just won't tell anyone.

Yeah. [ He grimaces. ] I- I was kinda hesitant to tell everyone about it, but... After Wendy felt something, too, I just... If it can help at all, I can't keep it to myself.

Would hidin' the guns really be enough? Somebody determined enough could steal them. I say we should break 'em, to be on the safe side.

I'm worried about breaking it causing the very accident I'm trying to prevent. That's how it happens a lot. It's all... It's really vague.

If it's not loaded, could it still go off?

It... I think it depends? [ THE GRIMACE WIDENS. ] I'm gonna admit, I don't know as much about guns as I should.

[ quietly beating himself up about that ]

Yeah, well, I don't really know 'em at all, except for the one time we had a serial killer that used a phasing sniper rifle that used bullets.

Why get near something that could kill you?

...I sincerely hope we don't find anything like that here...

Hold on did you say phasing what the hell's that mean?

Meaning he created it so it could shoot through walls. Created a couple locked room mysteries.

It wasn't the best time, I'll give you that. Ezri eventually figured it out and they were able to arrest the guy, so at least there's that.

He was having way too much fun being a serial killer with it. It was confiscated by the Federation and destroyed.

And come on, even if they didn't want the weapon itself there have to be millions of uses for phasing solid matter like that.

There are ways of phasing solid matter. It's called beaming with a transporter. The gun was something else altogether, and nothing else uses bullets anymore.

Transporters working how, exactly?

I'm not exactly an expert on this kinda thing, but basically it breaks matter down into energy, then sends that energy to another transporter, where it rematerializes it.

[Same boat there. Guns aren't easy to come by in his home.]

I guess the ignition powder in the gun could make it blow up?

[Shrugs. His world hasn't had anything like Martial Arts Sharpshooting or something like that yet yall]

Unless it's really, REALLY old the explosive elements would be contained in the ammo. The gun sets off a tiny spark inside the casing, which detonates and propels the shell down the barrel.
