Week Three Meeting

[Welcome back to the Eatery. Perhaps the mood is more somber than it was during the last meeting in here, but once again there is food and (non-alcoholic) punch to go around. Quark, Wendy and Vanity occupy the head of the table, but there’s plenty of other seats for both those that helped set up and those that didn’t. Looks like it’s time to put your heads together again and hopefully sort some things out.

Once everyone’s seated and in attendance, Quark pushes to his feet.]

Alright, we’re all pretty tired after yesterday so I’m not going to draw this out. Let’s just get started. [and he motions at Vanity, before sitting back down]

Nice and kind are words that get the FCA after you and looking into your records on suspicion of selling goods at cost. Muchless giving something away for free! I'm not interested in dealing with a liquidator again.

...Uhh. I kinda only barely graduated high school, man, I'm not really familiar with business stuff.

[he sighs in exasperation] Ferengi take our Rules of Acquisition very seriously, which means we take our business very seriously.

Okay, well... I just don't think being a businessman makes it so you can't be like...friendly and welcoming too. You've already been pretty good at both.

[latinumsbetter]

Friendly and welcoming, sure. That's one thing. Any good businessman should be that. It's the kind thing I take exception to. That's a slippery slope! First you let people hang out without buying anything. Then you let a drink or two go. Then next thing you know, you're giving half your inventory away for free and crashing the market!

With how serious about this whole thing you are, you think you'd let yourself get that far?

I'd better not. [he says, a day before he puts all his bar's profits in the hand of a dead boy, just in case] But better safe than sorry.

[ Alex does shrug a little, conceding. ]

Well, I'll never argue against that...

Good. Because I'm not interested in getting my assets seized again.

There is that much oversight?

[ Like, ponies have taxes and things, but there's no law about how much you have to sell things for, or whether or not you can give them away! ]

Of course there is! If you don't do business according to the Rules of Acquisition, you could upset other businesses, and even take down an entire industry. They're there for a reason.
