Afterparty

[After the execution finishes and Wendy is dragged down into the Earth by that absolute horrific monstrosity of a creature and Typhon gives his goodbye, Quark will stand there for a long moment in the silence, before announcing, in a voice that wavers while trying to go for neutral:]

The bar’ll be open. Sitting around alone isn’t going to help anyone. [he turns to look at Ferdinand] Ferdinand, you’re with me. I need someone to move the table.

[and, taking Cerejeira’s elbow, he’s going to head out of the Arena. So...post trial, the Eatery’s been moved into bar configuration by Ferdinand and Quark. There’s been several of the extra togas gathered and folded to be used as blankets. There are snacks from the pantry brought out and placed on plates and in bowls and left out to eat. The bar is open, but so is the kitchen, if anyone wants to make something.

Both Ferdinand and Quark can be found behind the bar, the latter attempting to teach the former how to use the replicator he’s now got back there in addition to the other drink components. At least it’s keeping them busy. They’re both there to serve drinks, however.

The door is open.]

[the rain has, at this point, started to subside a little bit. even after all of that, it's impossible to just keep wallowing forever. it still takes her a moment to look up at Aglaea, though.]

...I might end up getting it wet.

[it's not a no.]

A little water won't ruin the fabric. I think it might bless Wendy's, actually. She wanted something to do with the ocean, so being touched by a god's rain could be a good thing.

[It's not the kind of peppy, uplifting kind of talk to try to make people forget their problems. She's not like Hyacine, not a ball of light in the dark. She's just... trying to get Cerejeira's focus a bit more.]

... I could use help, though. Truly. Despite how often I talked to him, I'm not sure what to put on Alex's shroud.

I wish I had a better idea, honestly. I didn't know him nearly as well as I wanted to...

[they were only just starting to be friends, after all. and now... ah. no. don't think about that.]

I know he liked dogs...? He had this poster in his room back home with dogs he loved. And, um... oh, Clear. Of course.

[right, that. that's something. she holds onto it, even if it hurts after what Wendy told them all in the trial. it's important.]

...There should be a river.

A wolf beside a stream, perhaps...? That's something you'd see in a tapestry, not a funeral shroud. But he deserves it.

[They all deserve so much more.]

...Yeah. That sounds good. I think... he'd like that.

[she thinks. hopes. she knows too little about him. it was the same in the Paper Moon, she never knew enough about anyone.

she needs to fix that.]

[With a plan in mind now, Aglaea's stitches come a little more steadily, a little more fluidly now that things are falling together in her head. But even as she works, she glances to the side at Cerejeira.]

... How are you feeling?
