Two more of your fellow gods, your companions, your friends, have met their end together. As you turn in for the night, and a new week dawns upon you, it's starting to be a bitter experience. Just how much of this will you be forced to take?

But all isn't just despair. The morning is brighter than the last. The storm clouds that previously plagued almost every day have dissipated, and this week brings plenty of sun and a friendlier breeze. Not to mention, another floor of this strange temple has revealed itself. Whatever lies within is your domain, not Typhon's. Keep it tight in your grasp, because you never know when you'll lose it.

[Quark will find Aoi in the laundry room, pouring soap directly into the washer along with her sweater.]

Boop boop! Morning, Quark. ...Aoi needs to get an apron for working at the bar. There's juice all over my clothes.

[She might be hiring herself? Is she hiring herself?]

[WELL HE WAS GOING TO ASK ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE BUT--at that he stops and blinks]

For...working at the bar?

Yeah! Gotta contribute to Operation Revive the Economy! If Aoi runs out of money, I can't help as a customer. So what if I was a part-timer?

[his knee-jerk reaction is to refuse outright--and he opens his mouth to try and dissuade her.

But...well. It can't hurt for her to learn some skills, would it? She's going to need a way to earn money after this, and bartending, though not exactly lucritive, is a marketable and versatile skill.]

...alright. Part-time. You'll have a week's training period, and then I'll decide whether I want to hire you on with a contract or not.

Training period...that means Quark'll teach Aoi how to do his job?

[She lights up at the agreement with a smile.]

Okay! I'll work hard!

[She may not fully understand the weight of a job since this is her first practical brush with...well, most of the concepts involved with "working," "part-time," and "bar", but she's enthusiastic.]

I'll teach you to be a bartender. No one can do my job. [he sounds both amused and smug, very proud of himself. But, there's one detail:] What salary are you lookin' for?

Bartender Aoi...

[She repeats it like she's trying on a new title.]

Boop boop...people work at jobs to buy food and games...how much does eating cost?

[Aoi, you've been to a convenience store, haven't you? Please.]

Well, it depends on where you are and what the economy's like. An easy way is to think about what you want to buy, and how often, and how much that costs. Then you balance that against how much you might have to work to have enough to do that.

So if Aoi wants two Lukaras and four cookies a week...

[She counts out on her fingers...]

I'd need to make at least twelve tokens?

Yep. Twelve tokens a week. How many tokens is that a day?

[yourheroine]

Two...?

Seven doesn't go into twelve. So Aoi can only work six days.

[latinumsbetter]

Alright, so if you only work six days and have a day off, that'll get you to break even.

But you want to do more than break even. So you need to try and bargain with me.

[yourheroine]

-! Oh yeah, Aoi forgot about games.

...three a day?

How much will three a day get you?

[Aoi counts on her fingers again.]

Three, six, nine, twelve, fifteen... Eighteen?

Eighteen. Right. Is that enough to cover everything you want?

...does Aoi keep the tips?

[latinumsbetter]

It's different at every job. But in my bar...yes. [he sounds a little grumbly and reluctant about it, but no sense having it be different here, considering...]

[yourheroine]

Ok! Eighteen a week plus tips and Aoi'll break more than even. How's that?

[latinumsbetter]

And what if something happens? Just breaking even is fine, but if you don't have enough to cover the ups and downs, you'll end up in debt.

[yourheroine]

Debt....debt's bad.

[Aoi nods.]

Twelve would be even, eighteen and tips is more than even.
So Aoi doesn't end up in debt.

Alright. So three's your goal.

So then you want to ask for more than that when you start a negotiation. Go at least two steps higher than what you want, if not more.

[yourheroine]

Boop boop!

So if we start negotiating, I'd say...

[She pauses as if reloading the conversation, then declares:]

Aoi wants thirty a week!

[latinumsbetter]

Thirty! What are you doing, trying to rob me blind?

Twelve.

...that's not enough.
