Week one
You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.
It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

Just... Just stay calm, everyone, I'll show you how to turn the burner off.
It's only a small fire, we can contain it quickly if no one panics—

FuckfuckfuckfuckfuckFUCK—
[ With a mighty heavy, the bucket goes flying. ...Mmmmostly in the direction of the fire? But his hands are shaking something fierce, so it may also get on some of the other inhabitants of the kitchen. ]

Don't panic?! The kitchen's on--
[Oh Blessed Exchequer THAT IS A TEENAGER WITH A BUCKET Quark throws himself backwards with a screech just as the bucket is released. Fortunately for him, it means he only gets his sleeve wet with flying water--but it also means that he slips on some of the water already on the floor from the pot Aoi spilled, stumbling, arms flailing as he tries to right himself...at which point his other foot catches on the secondary zucchini which, having rolled off the counter in all the kerfluffle, has decided that it wants to make a home under Quark's boot.
Now, if this were someone like Ranma or Vanity or someone else with fighting martial arts skills, they would be able to recover from this. Quark, unfortunately, is neither of the above. As a result, stepping on the zucchini makes him pitch wildly backwards as his foot slips out from under him. He flails with another high-pitched shriek, tumbling back, his back slamming into the corner of the cold storage, which hurts. His hands scramble on the edge of the fridge and the counter, managing to bring himself to a stop before he falls further, but he ends up awkwardly clutching at both, eyes wide, back throbbing]

Aoi's okay--
[And she immediately gets splashed in the crossfire, ending up drenched along with the towel and several napkins.]

he walks back out of the kitchen, having decided he wants nothing to do with any of this.]

This moment does not last.
As Cerejeira sinks to the floor, there's a moment, two...and then it starts to rain. Quark is no stranger to rain or being soaked by it, but he's usually outside when that happens. So, naturally, it startles him, and he shrieks again, one more time--before he seems to realize that it is, truly, just rain, and though his back is still hurting, it's not anything dangerous per say. So the first emotion after the surprise and fear is relief.
This, unfortunately is swiftly followed by aggravation because he is now getting soaked. His mouth twists into a scowl as he does a quick scan of the room, searching for the culprit. Alex seems just as surprised by the rain, as do Aoi and Leb, so that leaves--]
--Jeira! [it's an irritated snarl, sliding the rest of the way to the floor, bringing him just close enough to reach out with his boot and shove at her ankle to get her attention] Oi! Jeira! Cut that out!
[that message delivered, he's going to turn his attention to Alex]
I could use a hand up, actually. I think I'm gonna have a crick in my back. Who thought putting sharp corners on this cold box thingy was a good idea? [he's already winding up to start complaining.]
no subject
Good job. Nobody caught fire. You prevented a bad end.
[Despite her typical flat voice, she's being genuine.]
Aoi needs a towel.
[THE OVEN IS OPEN AND THE STOVE IS ON. SOMEBODY WHO IS SMART, PLEASE.]

...
...God her veil feels annoyingly heavier than usual now. She can already hear Elise yelling at her to "take that dust rag off already, it's soaked for goodness' sake!" She brings a hand up to it, pauses...
And just adjusts the rosary on top a little so it doesn't fall off. ]
I'm fine.
[ Then she'll walk over to Quark and offer him a hand to help. ]
Here, Mr. Quark.

Why are you telling me? It's not my fault!

He scrambles over, sliding just a little on the wet floor but not falling, and turns off the burner. On the stove, he finds the remains of a charred rag and...ah. That explains that.
Closing up the oven, he looks at the group at large. His hands are shaking just a little. ]
Y-you can't- leave these. Not unattended.
[ thanks wet sweaty tall child. ]
no subject
Who else do you think it is?! [gesturing to the rain, and then to each person in turn--] Leb's got flowers, and Aoi's connections which doesn't have anything to do with rain, Alex is life, which I doubt this is linked to, and I'm community, so it's defintely not mine. It's a process of elimination, and if clouds like this are associated with anything, it would be gloom like the kind you've got goin' on!
[he huffs, turning his attention to Leb next, that prickliness fadding at the offered hand] Leb, you're a bar of latinum and a half and don't let anyone tell you different. [he'll reach up to take her hand, wincing as his back protests] Augh--I'm gonna feel that for a couple days.
[Finally, to Alex] We weren't leaving it unattended! We were here the whole time.
[this was, perhaps, the problem.]
no subject
...Aoi turned the burner on to show how it works.
[She looks a bit sad.]
Did Aoi mess up?
no subject
And then to Aoi. ]
No, you didn't. We were all just a little careless, it seems.
no subject
[what a way to find out, too. ugh.
you know what, time to get up off the wet floor. she's soaked and it's her own fault? can't have shit in god city.]
I was going to help them turn it off, but then... [she gestures at all of the water. all of it.]
no subject
[ Alex frowns. Quark said something about... ]
Hey. Hold still, okay? Gimme, just, I have a, a hunch, I think...
[ He's kind of stammering, babbling, but Alex reaches his hands towards Quark's back. From the moment he lays a single finger on Quark, two things happen:
One, Quark will feel a great relief flood through him. The pain, in fact, should be completely gone after about ten seconds.
Two, even though you are inside, a gentle breeze runs over everyone in the room. It may, in fact, blow Cerejeira's poor raincloud a little.
Alex winces for a moment. His other hand rests on his own back.
But then he grins. ]
Did, uh, did that work?
no subject
Oh, that's much better! [He straightens again, rolling his shoulders and stretching a bit] I think this is the best my back's felt in a while.
[he's so busy being being surprised and delighted about his back that he hasn't quite noticed where Alex has placed his other hand yet]
