Bar Mingle: Week 2

Every evening at dusk (unless, for some reason, Quark is indisposed,) the Eatery transforms into Quark's Bar. The table becomes a bartop with chairs lined up on one side. Some of the extra chairs are placed along the wall behind the bar as a makeshift bench for ingredients, glasses, ice, and anything else. There are bowls of peanuts placed on top of the bar for free snacking. On one end of the bar there's a selection of pastries, fresh-baked by Lebkuchen, who might also be there.

As of Monday, there are some new additions to the bar. On one end of the table is a interesting look board game. Next to it is a plate of lebkuchen, left out for a specific bunch of fuzzy creatures that seem to like them.. In another corner is a roulette-esque kind of game.

In the rafters, there's a whole swarm of Zubats now, and one or two of them might come down to say hello. If they do, Quark is shooing them away again, but they only go back up to the ceiling.


Outside the door to the Eatery is a sign, handwritten, and further inside, the menu tacked up in a couple places behind the bar:

[It is enraptured with the lesson, though how much it's actually absorbing is up for debate in the moment. Mostly it just seems happy to be receiving attention.]

[honestly focusing on explaining Tongo and pointing out the different cards and spinning the wheel around again is helping him focus on something other than the whole Big Red Metal Threat Still Being In The Bar And Way Too Close thing.]

--and when you want to change the market, normally you'd throw in some latinum, but we don't have that here, so you'd toss in one of these. [he pulls one of those tokens out of his jacket, showing it to it.]

So you take this, and you put it right in that center part where your friend is. That's where all the antes that people make go.

[Ferdinand is also listening to this, distracted from the critters]

[It takes the token in it's fuzzy little paw, studies it for a moment, before doing exactly as instructed and tosses it into the center.

Look at it, it's so good at Games.]

Just like that. Now you give one of those handles a push to spin the wheel--[and he leans down a bit so it can reach one of the handles]

[The Winion reaches out and...spin goes the wheel!]

[Average Fluff raises it's arms excitedly and, with all the power it's squeaky voice can muster solo, shouts:]

ACQUIRE!!!

[klsdhfs help that sounds just as high-pitched as Nog did when he was this small]

Hey, there you go, look at that! That was a pretty good spin! If you had any opponents, that would've definitely got them to evade.

[It nods firmly- then looks at Ferdinand and points.]

Bad at it.

Sparring with Athena! We watch. Bad at it. [Proudly.] Helped her.

[They sure the fuck did not based on her rolls.]

I would not call how I fared against a goddess a good measure!

[I mean you also didn't manage much in the invasion either buddy, rip]

[Here's Athena. Looking altogether disappointed but not surprised.]

[he brightens right away from his grumpiness as being teased by balloon cats]

[Quark also glances up from where he's teaching the Winion he's holding to play Tongo lmao]

Ah, Athena! [he also brightens] You might be interested in learning to play Tongo, it's a game of negotiation and skill.

Indeed, it is quite fascinating!

[he would be awful at it but don't tell him that]

Ferdinand, Quark, everyone. [she sighs] Small, furry creatures.

I'll happily play a game with you, Quark. I'll just need to get these creatures out of your hair.

Atheeeeenaaaaaa!

[All three of the furry little beasts poof from their current locations and reappear beside her, floating in mid-air.]

[This is her life.]

Yes, yes. Hello, again. I had wondered where you had rushed off to. I thought I made you promise not to cause any trouble.

[sweetsynergy]

[At some point deep in the game explanation, Vanity walks in.]

[Surveys the situation for a moment.]

I'm not caffeinated enough for whatever this is.

[Yeah, she's bee-lining for the coffeemaker.]

[called after her, still holding one of the winions lmao:]

Make a big pot, would ya? I need to refresh the stuff at the bar.

[sweetsynergy]

[She returns a few minutes later with a large, steaming carafe and a mug for herself.]

Okay, so what are these things and how sure are we they aren't saboteurs or something.

[By now, the Winions have returned to floating around Athena, and Quark will move to meet Vanity as she comes out of the kitchen, reaching out to take the carafe from her]

Apparently, one of Athena's family left them for her when he left.

Well, I'll try not to hold that against them.
