Bar Mingle: Week 2

Every evening at dusk (unless, for some reason, Quark is indisposed,) the Eatery transforms into Quark's Bar. The table becomes a bartop with chairs lined up on one side. Some of the extra chairs are placed along the wall behind the bar as a makeshift bench for ingredients, glasses, ice, and anything else. There are bowls of peanuts placed on top of the bar for free snacking. On one end of the bar there's a selection of pastries, fresh-baked by Lebkuchen, who might also be there.

As of Monday, there are some new additions to the bar. On one end of the table is a interesting look board game. Next to it is a plate of lebkuchen, left out for a specific bunch of fuzzy creatures that seem to like them.. In another corner is a roulette-esque kind of game.

In the rafters, there's a whole swarm of Zubats now, and one or two of them might come down to say hello. If they do, Quark is shooing them away again, but they only go back up to the ceiling.


Outside the door to the Eatery is a sign, handwritten, and further inside, the menu tacked up in a couple places behind the bar:

[Average Fluff freezes, looking at the growing cluster of strangers with wide, round eyes while Round And Fluffy continues to quickly spin like a small child trapped on a playground roundabout. It's hard to tell if it's frightened or nervous or even about to attack if it does feel threatened...

Then it looks to Quark and excitedly raises up it's tiny arms.]

[The creature in the crown looks up at Cerejeira and it's eyes light up as it catches sight of her colorful hair. It waves to her from the game bowl, cheeks stuffed round with gingerbread.]

[how does she respond to this. help. they're too cute???]

A-Are you enjoying the game...?

Fun game!

[It chirps happily and, in a blink, is laying flat on it's stomach on her head.]

Pretty colors.

H-Huh?

[oh. okay. sure, why not?]

...Is that... comfortable.

[That...fortunately pulls his attention temporarily away from Omega. He's still deliberately not turning his back to him as he moves closer to whatever these things are.

He contemplates how it's raising its arms for a minute...but he was there when his nephew was a baby. He knows that universal sign. He sighs, picking it up and settling it in the crook of his arm]

Alright, so this is a game called Tongo, and it's all about acquiring profit and managing the market--

[It is enraptured with the lesson, though how much it's actually absorbing is up for debate in the moment. Mostly it just seems happy to be receiving attention.]

[honestly focusing on explaining Tongo and pointing out the different cards and spinning the wheel around again is helping him focus on something other than the whole Big Red Metal Threat Still Being In The Bar And Way Too Close thing.]

--and when you want to change the market, normally you'd throw in some latinum, but we don't have that here, so you'd toss in one of these. [he pulls one of those tokens out of his jacket, showing it to it.]

So you take this, and you put it right in that center part where your friend is. That's where all the antes that people make go.

[he puts the token in its reach]

[Ferdinand is also listening to this, distracted from the critters]

[It takes the token in it's fuzzy little paw, studies it for a moment, before doing exactly as instructed and tosses it into the center.

Look at it, it's so good at Games.]

Just like that. Now you give one of those handles a push to spin the wheel--[and he leans down a bit so it can reach one of the handles]

[At some point deep in the game explanation, Vanity walks in.]

[Surveys the situation for a moment.]

I'm not caffeinated enough for whatever this is.

[Yeah, she's bee-lining for the coffeemaker.]

[called after her, still holding one of the winions lmao:]

Make a big pot, would ya? I need to refresh the stuff at the bar.

[She returns a few minutes later with a large, steaming carafe and a mug for herself.]

Okay, so what are these things and how sure are we they aren't saboteurs or something.

[ Omega just stares at them from across the room meanwhile.

Go on, you little monsters. Make a move. He dares you. ]

[All three look at Omega with round-eyed stares. You can practically hear what's going through their little heads.]

[ And there’s a staring contest, it seems. For contrast, here’s Omega’s head music. ]

[Making new friends is fun. :)]

…I HAVE DETERMINED THESE CREATURES ARE NO THREAT TO US.

[ And he turns to leave. ]

Well. You're quite the cute creature, aren't you?

[You don't see anything like that in the Underdark.]

We know!

[So fluffy! So cute! So knowledgeable of the fact they're adorable.]

[They are cute, but you know. He doesn't entirely trust them. Though he doesn't trust easily in general. Half a year living in the Underdark means absolutely anything could be a threat.]

So where did you all come from? Or is that a secret?

Big brother Hermes! Feather feet. "Good luck with better world! Take these. Don't know what to do with them."

I see.

[He can only imagine Hermes just takes in strange, small creatures. ]

And where is Hermes now?
