Week one
You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.
It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

Are you having difficulties with powers from your own world, or whatever new one you've been given here?

[The new voice gets the pigtailed teen's attention, craning his head to the source. Ranma remembers seeing that pale face with mismatched eyes in passing during the gathering. Were there two vampires brought amongst them all? There were some similarities to Astarion that Ranma did momentarily ruminate on it. Boy, any more bloodsuckers and they might get bats in the belfry.]
A little of column A, little of B.
[Rolling his shoulder with a terse stretch.]
Mostly B. I haven't had a reason or way to test if my strength and speed's still intact, and I can't just throw it around willy-nilly so recklessly.
[He'd get his godhood revoked if he just randomly socked someone in the face to check if they'll go into the stratosphere. From his observations, he gleaned Athena as being durable enough to take a hit if he hadn't been nerfed. But that's just a theory, a god theory. Thanks for smiting.
Sigh.]
I'm still attuned to my ki, that I know's still normal.
[Since they're on the subject, seems only fair to throw Zvei's question back at him.]
Something up with your powers?
no subject
Ki, hmm...?
[Not something he's familiar with, but he can circle back around to that in a bit (if he remembers). For now:]
Yes, I have noticed that my magic seems... weaker. Almost as though something is blocking it, but not fully preventing its usage, if that makes sense. I am a healer by trade, and usually I'm capable of healing near-fatal wounds... but I've noticed that my healing is sluggish and slower to respond. I doubt I'd be capable of my usual level of healing, but I'm unable to adequately test that theory right now.
[Not unless someone gets seriously hurt. So anyway, if Ranma wants to punch someone so hard they get broken ribs or something—]

[There it is, that unfamiliarity he's heard time and again. He'll gladly explain it if Zvei decides to ask further. For now tho, Ranma nods along to the other's explanation, fully getting what's laid out.
It wasn't immediately noticeable when he woke up the first day. Like a small nick on your hand you got somewhere you can't place, it didn't make itself known until he thought about it. Call it a gut feeling, but it felt like a weaker variant of the moxibustion that stripped him of his strength that one time. That didn't sit well with him. All the more reason to find an excuse to go all-out and test if his strength, speed, everything's been tampered, and by how much.
Tempting as it may be to punch someone in the rips, he's not gonna do that without a reason.
WITH A REASON HOWEVER-]
It does.
[Pinching his brow, he crosses his arms, grousing under his breath.]
Here I thought becoming gods would make us more powerful, not less.
[Sad thing is he should've expected this. There's always gotta be some sort of catch or price involved when it comes to power.]
no subject
[That's what happened the first time, after all.]
But we do have to consider that we are in an entirely different world. That may have some sort of impact on our abilities - the innate mana within this world may be less, meaning I am unable to call upon it as easily as I could in my own world for my spells, for example.
[Not that he's noticed anything of the sort, but it's a general example to get the point across.]
So it is possible that merely arriving here caused some sort of disturbance rather than it being Lady Athena's doing or as a process of becoming a god. We can't rule anything out just yet, but it is worth keeping in mind.
no subject
[Nodding attentively.]
Wouldn't surprise me if becoming gods and gettin' new powers did screw with our abilities and bodies. [like, gods are supposed to be immortal for example. are they still mortal? tho that isn't a line of thought ranma's raring to find out.] It isn't everyday people actually reach that level of ascension, least not that I know of. Here's hoping it's only temporary.
[Cause if not he's gonna want a refund on godhood.
One thing Zvei said did catch his attention.]
Mana?
no subject
Mana is the innate magic present within all beings - at least, in Aelios. Granted, if there was no mana present here at all, I'm not sure my spells would even work...
[He is so damn curious about the differences between worlds, but like, maybe we have a mana-equivalent. Or maybe his godly powers extend to "you can cast your magic here regardless". Or maybe it's just jamjar mechanics.]
Regardless! A mage draws upon both natural mana present within the world itself and their own mana to cast spells.
no subject
[The answer? ~*Handwaving away tons of power logistics for the sake of rping blorbos*~
On the topic of mana-equivalent, Ranma's certainly listening with great interest. The way Zvei describes mana...]
That all sounds like ki.
[Stating plainly, before going on to explain since he knows he'll get asked anyway.]
Ki isn't magic like your mana, it's the life force every living thing has, where I'm from. And with enough physical and mental trainin'...
[He cups his hands together, and like before, there's a faint golden hue that surrounds him. That same orb of pure energy manifests in his hands only this time it doesn't flicker out.]
Anyone can consciously tap into it and use it.
no subject
[that word no longer looks like a word and we are only in week one. save me.]
A similar, yet different aspect of the world that can be tapped into for power... My, I could spend all day chatting with you about ki! But I'll try to limit my questions so I don't bore you too much.
Let's start with this: how did you learn to harness ki?
no subject
[rip
no no, please bore him to death o' god of death! He'll gladly blab on and on about martial arts until he's blue in the face]
Every martial artist has their own form of unlockin', but the general gist is pushing yourself beyond your own limits through rigorous physical trainin'. Mentally, that's typically done through understandin' your place and connection to the world and those in it. Meditation's the go-to method there.
