Week one
You've all met Athena, and she's made her point quite clear. She's fully committed to making this world better, and you're the ones who agreed to lend a hand. Something she's obviously quite thankful for.
It's really not so bad around here. Despite the sky, and the state of the land, things are fairly calm. You've got plenty of time to get used to it, and each other. Maybe this'll be easier than it seems.

Except, maaaaybe they're kind of warranted, considering they're joined by panicked, reptilian screeching? If you decide to approach, you can see a wyvern, brown and saddled, flapping around above the cornucopia, clearly disoriented. ]
—the fuck, a fucking dragon?!
[ So like. Neither one of them are having a good time right now.
After all that is...settled, Alex regroups to take some inventory of the things he's got. It's...mostly pretty useless. But, as a boy who—at least once upon a time—really likes knickknacks, it does draw his attention. He can be found outside the scroll room, like just kind of sitting against the wall and looking over his haul, sans Wyvern.
His lip curls at the memorabilia t-shirt ("Tacky" he mutters) and he has properly disposed of the death trap known as the banana peel but everything else has him varying levels of interested to bemused. ]
Just a crayon? [ He snorts, holding it up. ] Alllright, whatever.
[ There's one item that he sees and has...an idea about, immediately.
So, after all this, when the day's getting late, he goes and seeks out Lebkuchen, a dusty bible under his arm. ]
cornucopia
Alex, are you alright?!

[ we're doing great here ferdinand ]

[The roar again, right above them, and Ferdinand looks up]
A wyvern! I thought that is what I heard.
[He raises an arm, like a mother keeping their unseat-belted car passenger in place, as he stares up at the beast, eyes narrowed to try and get any details. But it's too high up and too panicked in it's flight to see well.]
Stay still. If it's wild it may try to swoop.
no subject
Through the side of his mouth: ] I-it had a- something on it, like a- a saddle.
no subject
[he brings his other hand to his mouth, putting his fingers to his mouth and giving a sharp whistle. The wyvern looks down at them, then swoops down-
- only to land right next to them]
... Derick!!
[Oh Ferdinand sounds like a puppy just ran up to him]
no subject
Which. Maybe it is, in this comparison.
After a few long moments where his brain reboots, mentally running through every way he could die in the next ten seconds, Alex coughs out: ]
Derick?

SCROLL ROOM
I see you got several new things as well.
no subject
Yeah, it's mostly junk. [ But he says that with kind of a fondness. He likes junk, after all. Or, well. He did. ] 'Cept for the literal dragon, but, he's Ferdinand's problem now.

[ A beat. ]
You recognize that?
no subject
[as for that bottle]
Recognize, not exactly, but I think I know a bottle of alochol when I see one. [He arches an eyebrow at Alex] May I?
no subject
...Ohhh, bartender with no alcohol... [ Alex clicks his tongue thoughtfully. ] You want it?

take me home country roads... that is wildcard.
There hadn't been any real omens yet, anyway. So, why would she--then she saw the CD. She didn't recognize it; well the particular disc anyway. Everyone and their grandma had a copy of a Have a Nice Decade CD... but the contents of it, the way it was clearly warped by heat...
Love Rollercoaster by the Ohio Players. I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. Superstition by Stevie Wonder. You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet by the Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
It made her skin crawl. She managed to get the CD back from Vanity but she couldn't take her eyes off it. So she wandered. Wandered and almost ran into Alex. She jumped, startled like a deer in the headlights of a speeding car.]
Alex...god, Alex... something is going to happen...! Look--
[She shoves the CD into his sweaty hands.]
no subject
He puts out his hands to right Wendy, while he asks— ]
An omen. You recognize this?
[ It sucks that he doesn't sound really surprised, just disappointed. ]
no subject
There was a fire at a tanning salon. Those places have CDs all over the place for the clients to use while they're tanning... I didn't ever see the fire itself and that's not the, um, omen I saw for them but...
[She had went to a tanning salon with Julie the year before grad night. It was a sister's thing, they were going to the coast to visit relatives. Julie wasn't going with Amber or Perry so she wanted Wendy to try it. She felt silly in a bathing suit but... she remembered there was a CD player. It made sense that those poor girls... She swallowed.]
no subject
But it was there. You can feel it, can't you?
[ From his pocket, Alex withdraws the magazine scrap he'd gotten back from Vanity. He holds it in one cupped hand. 'Tod.' ]
Mine was more direct. This is the first sign I really saw, and knew what it meant.
[ The same fucking kind of message. ]
no subject
Yeah. Yeah, I can. I can't tell you why but--you get it.
[For once she doesn't have to explain. She takes a deep breath. Tod Wagner.]
I... mine were photos I took of people at Grad Night.
no subject
[ Huh. That's different. But then, Alex thinks he's kind of... ]
I saw flashes of stuff, other times. Like a...reflection that wasn't there. Or lightning in fire.
[ His skin's crawling. Wendy knows. Wendy's like him. She saw it, like him. But still, he feels like it's wrong to be talking to anyone else about this but Clear. ]

Uhhh, Le- Lebku- um- [ aw fuck he can't say it. ] Hi?

It's Alex, right? You can just say Leb if it's easier.

... ]
...All right.
Lebkuchen.
[ She says it a little more slowly to help him try and get it. ]
no subject
[ He repeats a few times. Nods to himself. ]
Thanks. I'm sure I'm not the only one havin' trouble, but... If we're gonna be uh, working together, I at least wanna try getting everyone's names kind of right.
